I wanted to toss something out to the group, see if there would be interest. Coming up in April, 4/16 - 4/19, is the spring KCPT Auction. I thought it would be fun if we could get a group of Cauldronites to volunteer to work the phone bank during the 2nd shift on Friday, 4/18. That would be from 8:30 - Midnight. If you've seen the Auction, the phone bank is right there in the studio, a good chance for some tv time for the Cauldron. We could, of course, all wear our Wizards blue. Here is the "job description" for working the phone bank: Phone Bank: Take bids from viewers. Requirements: Good eyesight, good hearing and legible handwriting. 25 volunteer openings per shift. I've done this before, and it a lot of fun. You would take calls from the public, they will ask you what the current bid is on a particular item, then they will place a bid. You will take their name, number and bid. That's it. Food and soda is provided. So, what do people think....is this something we could get behind? Could we get 25 people confirmed in the next week or so? If we get less, we can always take half the phone bank. Let me know what you think.
OKay, Here's who we have going as of today. I need to get a list off to KCPT as soon as possible, but I would like to get up closer to 20 people if possible. Robert Pat Kathie George S. Mike? Greg Kevin
BUMP! Come one Cauldron, let's step up!! This should be a fun time, and a great opportunity to get The Wizards & the Cauldron out infront of people who may not otherwise be aware of the team. We have 7 (an a possible 8th) right now, we can bring as many as 25. Robert Pat Kathie George S. Mike? Greg Kevin Jeff
Are the Wizards donating anything for the auction? It would be nice if when we work the banks, they're auctioning off whatever the Wizards would be giving away. I can add at least 1 to that list or probably more. I'll get on a couple of my friends to help out.
I don't know if the Wizards have anything donated for this Auction or not. I have seen Wizards item in the past. The only problem with that is the Auction typically has "theme" nights, where the majority of items fall within that theme (sports/fitness, art, kids, etc...). I don't know if the Friday we are looking to work will be a theme night, as they don't have that info posted yet.
I sent in the current list of people that have responded. I received a response this mornign from KCPT, we have been added 12 volunteers on the 2nd shift (8:30 - 12) Friday, 4/18. I also told them we may very well be able to get a full 24 people by 4/8, and she said that would be great and just to let her know the names of any late additions. So....if you still want to join us, there is time.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who showed up Friday night at the KCPT Auction. Unfortunately for us, they double-booked the phone bank for that shift. 5 of us stayed around to help out in other capacities while the others were free to leave. Those of us that stayed had a pretty good time. Depending on the timing of the larger fall Auction, we may try it again. I have the word of the woman coordinating that we will get top priority if we come back again, since she messed up this time. Thanks again, and I'll let everyone know about the fall Auction. ps. Don't eat at Applebees any more.
And more importantly, the people that were there from Applebee's were obnoxious, loud, annoying asshats. I couldn't care less about getting bumped by them...that was just a scheduling snafu by KCPT.
Are you specifically referring to the drunks in the back row? There is a time for drinking/partying as we in the Cauldron know, this however, was not one of them.
I don't know if they were drunk or just obnoxious d-bags....could go either way with a couple of those guys. Of course, if they were drunk, that would at least explain some of the horrible printing on the bid-sheets I received.
During the phone bank training they were really obnoxious and in my opinion drunk. I want to see Kathie's photos in the lobby with Oscar and Big Bird though
