Forget Traveling to Toronto
So while the Red Snatch Boys are busy thumping their chests about the several hundred thousand fans they're rbinging down to take over CCS and show all us backwoods morons what real fan support is all about, don't even TRY to make plans to return the favor.
I put this up on my blog this morning, but it's worth reposting if the mods don't mind:
Toronto will be restricting ticket sles to visiting team fan groups to 100 seats. Period.
http://pitchinvasion.net/blog/2008/0...ricted-in-mls/
Tell the league to put THAT on their precious little "Rivalry Cup". Helluva rivalry when you can't even bring fans to the games, isn't it?
Note to Mark McCullers: I know you badly need the money, but if you ever again sell more than 100 tickets to TFC fan groups, you have no hangy-down manparts whatsoever.

Good blog post. I agree this kind of sucks. Hey supporters groups were not just only going to demolish the North End and move Union. But we are going to put you up untested in your new location against 2,000 chanting TFC fans on opening day on ABC. How can you win there?
And what if it snows like last year? Hell, then it will be almost a TFC home game.

Re: Forget Traveling to Toronto
well, considering our invasion last year consisted of about 12 people, I think we will not really go over 100 this year. I can't believe they sold over 16k season tix with a 20k capacity stadium. Scalpers must love it up there.

We Can Only Send 100 People Cup
I still contend that, compared to my admittedly little experience of securing tickets at away venues, the stories I read about Columbus indicate that the Crew make it ridiculously easy for visiting supporters while other teams aren't as easy.

Re: Forget Traveling to Toronto
And I don't think our game is gonna be on ABC.
But I bet that if the FO organizes a bus trip up there, they will be able to get more than 100 tickets out of Toronto so that we can carry on our rich Great Lakes Cup tradition

Crew FO's preferred customers:
Away Supporters over Home Supporters.

Yeah only way that is ever happening is if the supporters buy the bus.

Re: Forget Traveling to Toronto
My current understanding is that of the 100, 25 will go to F.O. and the remaining 75 will be put under the responsibility of the supporters groups to allocate.
We're currently working on how to do that. Most likely some kind of bus trip and also an option to buy individual tickets.
As an informal survey would people prefer
A) Bus trip up and back same day
B) Bus trip up Saturday, come back Sunday
C) Just a Ticket
D) Other: _______

Well it's certainly true that if the Crew continues to stink up the league that there won't be much interest in going to Canada to watch them lose.
But if some of you are correct and this year's team is Championship caliber, then I would think ginning up some enthusiasm wouldn't be nearly so difficult.

If I'm going up, the trip's gotta include the Hockey Hall of Fame.... It's about 6 hours one way plus border controls (don't forget your passport!).

Correct. ABC is not showing the opening game this year.
Instead, they have opted for an MLS/Euro 2008 doubleheader on June 29. They will show the LA at DC match at noon, followed by the Euro 2008 final.
