I used to think putting people on block was stupid, because all you have to do is not reply.

But, no, that shit doesn't work.

I put 5 real annoying idiots on block, and I love life.

Only problem being when you guys reply to their posts and quote them.

That is the only time I am privileged to read a few lines of Mosco, Perndog, Eduardito, Lyrical Suicide and Goofy.

And let me tell you...

I don't miss them.

While Lavolpe was involved in team practices, stopping it often to correct things, etc, Hugo leaves his assistant to run the practice while he runs laps around the field. Very different styles and degree of involvement. Maybe that is part of the reason why players have a hard time understanding what Hugo wants from them.

I can assure you from first hand experience that Lavolpe also had his assistants (Paco Ramirez, etc) conduct team practices.

Hugo may run laps around the field, but Lavolpe would usually sit with Cantu, smoke a cigarette, and drink yerba mate or coffee

I do not see why this is even an issue. An assistant is there for that particular reason. To assist the coach in training sessions. The head coach usually observes the assistant coach, the goalkeeping coach, and the physical trainer with their activities.

Lets be honest--2 players. Pardo and Marquez have been the only ones to state publicly that they did not know what Hugo wanted of them.

Is that really fair criticize? No one criticized Lavolpe when players like Palencia, Borgetti, Mendoza all said that they were trying to get use to Lavolpe style of footie.

Lets not forget that Pardo and Marquez have crossed paths with Lavolpe prior to the NT. Pardo and Marquez were coached by Lavolpe every single day during their Atlas years.

How many training sessions has Hugo had with Marquez and Pardo? Not many.

In fact, Hugo has not been given ONE training session outside national team duties. Lavolpe must have had 4-5 midweek training sessions before. Do you remember how players from America, etc would have to leave their club and train 3-4 days with Lavolpe?

---------

Mexico has not played to their potential. But he hasnt even have time to check other players. I do not recall off the top of my head the exact number of players what were observed by Lavolpe, but it was more than 70. That is alot of players to observe over 3 years (not including the u-23 team).

After the Copa America, Mexico really doesnt have anything of importance until 2008 when the WCQ start. I think its best that Hugo is given more chance to observe players and build his team. If by then, the team in not winning (i would say playing well, but that is subjective to people).

If Hugo coaches the pre-olympic/olympic squad, he'll get a chance to also take a look at many of the younger players, several of whom are results of the 20/11 rule, give them the opportunity to get used to his system, and see how well they play in international competition.
