Rivaldo to Red Bulls?
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sp/spt/4502450.html
Someone in MLS made him an offer, looks like.
Surely you guys are a top candidate.
Would be a very good signing, I think.
Imagine Rivaldo as your AM/withdrawn forward supported by Claudio.
With Dema threatening to break anyone's legs that tried to hurt Rivaldo
BTW- He's tied for top scorer in Greece, and Olympikos is in first again.

Re: RIVALDO real close to Signing With RBNY....
Did they say MLS, or RBNY?
That's funny, I was thinking Rivaldo was an obvious choice for MLS yesterday.. .

Re: RIVALDO real close to Signing With RBNY....
Please, please, please let this be true!! I have always loved him as a player, and the fact that he is leading the Greek league in scoring says that he still has a lot left in him!

Is Rivaldo an attacking mid or forward?

Re: Rivaldo to Red Bulls?
Would be an interesting acquisition. He is still deadly in dead ball situations as well. He turns 35 in April, so he may only have a few years left, but hey, RB has unlimited money to burn, so why not?

Indeed it is interesting, I remember reading an article were, then NY/NJ head coach, Bradley said something about feeling the pressure of the fans to go out and sign Rivaldo, but it wasn't in the best interest of the team.
How times have changed . . .
P.S. If Rivaldo is an attacking midfielder, does that mean Arena is going to try the 1-5-4 in MLS?

Prematurely lured out of retirement?
From July 17, 2006: "Rivaldo to quit at end of season"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...pe/5189506.stm
"I have already made up my mind. This is going to be my last season as a footballer," Rivaldo, 34, told Greek newspaper Protathlitis.
"I want to finish my career in an Olympiakos shirt."
Rivaldo added: "I want to do something great next season and then I will go to Brazil to get some rest."
If he does come, I hope he'd bring some energy. It sounds like he wanted to quit in just a few months.

Re: Rivaldo to Red Bulls?
Mod should merge threads (mine was first!)
It must be Red Bull who bid (if the reports are true about outbidding). Who else is going to be so aggressive like that? (The only other possibility would be AEG in Houston or Chicago), but NY makes a lot more sense.
Spare change Kraft would go aggressive. He's too busy counting money from SELLING players.
Hope it happens for you guys. I really do. He could work out BETTER than Ronaldo all the way around.
