It sure is a weapon

Yeah but unfortunately Gooch can't throw it AND head it. When your best aerial threat has your best throw-in, you gotta decide where you want him and something has to give.
If the US could get a little more size on the field, I think Gooch's throws could be a much more frequently used weapon.

Liar. Gooch is plodding no-skilled player that would get run over in MLS.
At least that's what Bruce S says

Gooch gets the assist in MLS, but not anywhere else in the world.

I know, I could careless if leagues tally assists, but he did assist on the goal. That's what I was saying.

how much more less could you care until you cared none at all.
Well, anyway, you said he "earn"ed an assist. An easy way for people to understand what you mean, is say/write what you mean.
Incident no. 1,345,723,982,122 on Big Soccer where instead of just admitting to being wrong (or if that word is too strong) mistaken, or just innocently off and agreeing with the poster who points it out, said poster says that what he wrote wasn't what he meant. (there are many other techniques, another favorite is just ignoring the point made - forever - like all these people who had never seen Gooch ever do a long throw in for the U.S. when he did it at least twice in the very last game he played with them.)

Or you just play a taller line-up and hope that a free throw can get you a corner.

Re: Onyewu: Club Brugge vs. Standard Liege [R]
Our set pieces are generally awful. If we can't convert when we are allowed to hammer the ball in with our feet, we can't really get too excited about being given the same chance from a throw. The set-piece issue I always found disturbing. 20 or 30% of all goals have to come from dead balls - if not more. It's the one thing you can actually effect with decent coaching/practice and I've never done the numbers on it, but I bet we were near last for the past few WC's in dead ball conversions. So throwins shouldn't be much different.
