Default Lazio- Roma [R]

Here is the latest translation from today's GDS on the LAZIO-ROMA derby & Totti's condition.

Totti, key optimist for derby
Roma M.D.: "As of Sunday he has been having pain in his ankle, but he is getting better. The prognosis will come out only btween SAT & SUN, knowing him , he will be there"

Totti exalts: his double goal against Atalanta. Against Lazio he will be on the pitch.
ROMA, 6 dicembre 2006 - "There is a cautious optimism, he has been having akle pains since Sunday but he is getting better. The prognosis will be given between SAT & SUN, but I can not exclude that knowing Francesco he will play even on one leg. It will be difficult to not let him play the derby". These are the words given today by Mario Brozzi, MD of AS Roma, all of the giallorossi fans are hoping to see Totti play the next match w/ Lazio. Impressions? In the end the #10 will be there even out of joy for his teammates.
Explains Rodrigo Taddei: "The derby is important game for us players. We always look to give our all with respect to our adversary, as we have always done until now. Anyway, we are hoping for the 3 points. My goal from last year? Its over, I have to think of the next goal I'll score which will be the best one. I hope to help my mates out with every match with a goal or an assist to give a contribution to Roma. We have 4 days to keep on working, we have to work well and concentrate. Lazio is a good club, & we have to play an excellent match to win. Will Totti be there? We hope so. If the captain is not there he will give a hand to who will play in his spot". Needless to say that an eventuality, that for now, giallorosso fans doen't want to even consider (that he won't be present)

If Totti isn't fit and is still suffering some pain, i think he should rest this game. I know he loves the derby and would love to take part, but i we need him for more then just the derby. We have Palermo coming up and we need him at 100% for that game...i think Spalletti should field Vucinic up front and see how the first 65 minutes go...if we are tied, or losing, put Totti in. If we are up a goal or two...rest him. Most likely Totti will make a full recovery and be ready to go! He should just keep that magic spray with him and during stopages...spray his foot lol

CALCIO, ROMA; PERROTTA: EMOTION DERBY LIKE THE MONDIALE
Simone Perrotta compares the derby with Lazio as if it were the World Cup Final: ''The derby is a emotional one comparable to the WC Final'', said the Roma midfielder speaking of the upcoming match against the cross town rival on hand for Sunday evening. ''Its a match that always gives strong sensations. A goal for the derby? Let's just say I won't hold back or pass on any chances on trying to score one.

ya i know...i think b/c this week was Champ League...all focus, including mine was on the CL. I even forgot for a second that the derby was this week. I'm sure monday morning we will see plenty of articles about the derby...then we'll hear about the Palermo match. Which is huge as well!

A WIN. Thats all I care about, simply, 3 pts. Even if we lose the Scudetto race, I don't want us losing to Lazio ever.

Totti guides the Roma of the Romans
The captain Sunday evening will be on the pitch. Among those who are starting and those who aren't the giallorossi can count on at least 6 players born and raised in Rome, raised thru the ranks and the school of Bruno Conti

ROMA, 8 dicembre 2006 -
Totti & De Rossi starting, Rosi, Curci & Virga on the bench, Aquilani who will watch the match in the stands because of an injury. Roma lands the derby with a bunch of Romani: Bruno Conti's visit, for over a decade a great father of the youth sector, today technical director. Six players, 6 quarters or burrows of the city and their surrounding cities, a trip around the Capital at 360 degrees. Totti, who on Sunday evening will play and wants to dedicate a goal to his wife Ilary the eventual goal, is of Porta Latina, a few kilometers in from Piazza San Giovanni. Francesco started playing soccer on a field near home, in Piazza Epiro. He went to school at Giovanni Pascoli.
Daniele De Rossi, maybe the Romanista who is best form, was born and raised in Ostia. His first team was Camilli. From there a long road and Sunday he will celebrate 100 presences in Serie A. Aleandro Rosi is from the Garbatella, area on the west side. With that name a little cut up of Alessandro, Rosi started to play soccer on the same pitch where Agostino Di Bartolomei, the Roma captain of their 2nd scudetto. Then at the re-christened oratory at "the chiesoletta", there was father Guido who taught soccer and life.
Aquilani, who socred the 2nd goal in the derby of last February 26th and will miss the match due to an injury, is from Montesacro, in the North end of town. Aquilani played in many derby;s even on the youth teams. He is one who raises his level when he encounters Lazio. Gianluca Curci was born in Castelgandolfo, in the heart of the Castelli Romani. He is the son of an ex manager of Roma, Curci started playing on the fields of Eur. He had Roma in his blood and found himself in giallorosso as a kid. He participated ub the big derby's, actually in last years derby, Spalletti promoted Doni as a starter. He is consoled to be a Vip, on the bench. Virga is from Monterotondo, in a town North of Rome. In the area where there are mostly Lazio fans, but Virga is an exception. Even he will be on the bench, & maybe will play during the course of the game.

Totti: "Enough of the lies about me"
Spalletti picks him for tomorrows match against Lazio, but the gossip still torments him: "I never bought any photos and I never had anything to do with Signorina Vento. My family deserves respect"
ROMA, 9 dicembre 2006
- His will won't let him miss, the incognito is in his legs. Anyway, everyone wants him, therefore there will be a derby for the captain. Francesco Totti will appear on the list of players picked by Luciano Spalletti who will dress up for tomorrows match. During the sit down Totti, like De Rossi, worked on his own before coming out on the pitch with his teammates who went over some schemes and technical aspects for a mini game which concluded the training session.
The captain is satisfied with the prospect of at least being there, while he appears less enthusiastic about his condition: "I'm not well, tomorrow morning is the last try out. For I want to be at my best". He says as a starter he isn't not yet certain: "I still have pain while kicking, I even tried some lateral movements and I must say that at the moment I'm afraid to make an impact with the ball. I hope something positive will happen tonight because I absolutely want to play".
On the same wave length, Spalletti on his list of players (for the match): "I'm a little concerned , but I'm optimistic because I know he wants to be there. Then there have been improvements even the medical staff is optimistic". The coach also De Rossi available tomorrow night who today was stopped only "for precautionary measures", said Spalletti.
From football to gossip, during these times the passes are short: "Enough lies about me and my private life". After the "no comment" of the milanista Alberto Gilardino, comes the words of Totti who says, "My family deserves respect - he said Totti -, I never bought any photos and I never had anything to do with Signorina Flavia Vento".

I remember last year that the RAI wouldn't televise the LAZIO matches because of something about the rights. It could be the same this year and because Lazio is the home team & this may have something to do with it. I don't have it but I had it last year: The FOX Soccer Channel or FOX Sports World or whatever they call it now may televise the match but am not sure.
