The Denver Post had an update on the stadium today.

The Denver Post said:

Stadium moving along

The Rapids will host a topping-out ceremony Friday to commemorate the placing of the highest steel beam at their soccer-specific stadium being constructed in Commerce City.

According to Mike Rock, senior director of development, the stadium is about 10 days ahead of schedule thanks to fewer than expected hard freezes during the winter.

The concrete in the lower bowl is about 65 percent complete, and the steel work should be done by the weekend, Rock said.

Rock said the stadium is within its budget, although designers decided to add about $1.9 million worth of extras, including a restaurant on the south end, additional LCD screens for viewing and more accessories for the removable concert stage.

I don't know what it is about the word webmaster, but it conjures up images of Ghostbusters for me. Maybe it reminds me of the whole gatekeeper/keymaster thing.

Wow. I know its part of a larger complex, but at this rate I would almost think they could be done by the end of the season. And while I am sure thats not true.

I can't see anything short of a natural catastophy stopping the rapids new grounds from being ready for '07.

Seriously, love the covering on both sides, looks the perfect size for the rapids typical draw lately. Gonna be pretty amazing.

I am really pleasantly surprised by these photos. It is looking great! May be the only stadium that looks better in real life than in the rendering.

-VERY jealous in the Bay Area
