I've always heard it as 'thrumming' too, which i just understood to mean that we were kicking their asses.
This discussion could only happen on BigSoccer... Anyway I think it's 'thrumming' or 'prumming'. Obviously a mix of two words.
I always thought he said "throbbing." I know that doesn't make sense, but I never questioned that, as remember, this is the broadcasting team that brought us "torpedo header" and "Stewart exploded that ball", not to mention "that ball was picking up speed on its way to the net". That said, I always liked Jack's enthusiasm. He might've been a goober, but he was OUR goober.
Right now I don't have a way to copy it...but I would definately if I could. PM me if you have any further suggestions about it.
If you need more Jack Edwards, I'm sure you could stil catch him announcing one of those sumo wrestling tournaments he was so fond of.
He pops up on NHL broadcasts from time to time as well--you might be able to catch him in the fall of 2005
Sounds to me he is saying, "Their prison raping Portugal" or "their bitch slapping portugal" or Their french-gypysing portugal" thats what its sounds like.
I recently had a chance to ask Jack Edwards this question and here's the definitive answer straight from the source... Pretty obvious though when you look up the defnition of drubbing: http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entries/93/d0399300.html
Well, weren't we? (metaphorically at least...I'm pretty sure using an actual stick is a red card offense).
Repped, thats is awesome. If we could find a way to get the video with it I would be thrilled but anyways good work many Jack was the best. I am sure I have already seen a thread but I feel like it is BS's responsibility to start a "Jack in 10" campaign, well with a better slogan of course.
Come on, didn't y'all know where the word "krumping" got its start? Some street clown was watching the game, and the rest is history...
Jack Edwards you are missed. I always liked "It's Delirium in Daejon." I think it was during the US vs Poland match when South Korea scored the goal that put us through. Also "defendering" is always a classic.
