Just to set the record straight. Notts Forest deserved the win v Southampton. All the lads in these teams have great skill and I didn't mean to diss their ability. I was just stating that IMHO their tactics appear to be to suck a team in then plant a long ball through to Bamford. Their midfield did look very assured on the ball but rarely did they manage to get anything out of playing through Saints that evening. On form Saints ought to have won but this is football. I am a Toon supporter too. It has been a bad week :(

Good luck to Forest for the rest of the tournament.

Panayiotou (Leicester) and Samuel (Reading) with another hat-trick each this weekend.

    Swansea 1-5 United.

Even though the match was won in the first half, the second half performance was very impressive. 16-year old Harrop who came on for a cameo with some very silky dribbling.

Any word if Loftus-Cheek will be fit for the West Ham game a week today?

I'm very curious as to how Fanimo is doing with him being out of sight for so long. He doesn't appear to be doing as well as I'd have hoped - should be playing for the first team by now.

Apparently Sheyi Ojo came off the bench and played for 35 mins in a Friendly match for the LFC U18s today. He is only 14

Adam Campbell scored a penalty as Newcastle beat QPR 2-1 after extra-time in the FA Youth Cup.

Burnley knocked out West Brom yesterday with a shock 2-1 away win.

    Remaining teams -

    Newcastle United v Blackburn Rovers
Manchester United v Charlton Athletic or Tottenham Hotspur

[IMG]Nottingham Forest v Chelsea or West Ham United

He's got a hip problem - manager thinks he'll be out for about another four weeks. Is now able to run in straight lines.

Re: FA Academy Pemier League 2011/12

Chelsea up'd their game no-end to beat West Ham last night - but it looked like a travesty when ideas lacking WH scored late on to make it 3-2 - deservedly Chelsea came back late to take it to pens.

I don't know if Swift was boosted after his England u17 trip but he really stepped up and was clearly the outstanding player in the first half when Chelsea were on top form - worked a good shot early on, tried again but had to circle the defence and pulled back for Baker to slot in. Came up with a couple of cracking long passes and was running the game. Second half lost a bit of composure at times giving loose balls away (similar to Giggs at the week end against the Pool - mind you he's got the excuse of being cross eyed with all that sex).

I see City lost to Fulham (2-1 I think)

Yeah, very nice to see Swift playing well as the elite qualifiers are nearing.

A shame about West Ham's display, although Chambers showed his quality a few times.

Charlton knocked out Spurs tonight 1-0.

Seen the kid for the first time today, he's very good. Well built for his age but very intelligent with his play.

Shocked that Magri is having a trial at Liverpool tbh...never been a fan and thought Adam Jackson would have felt frustrated that he played back-up to him at u17 WC.

An amazing comeback from Chelsea to beat Forest 4-3 after 90 minutes - Chelsea looked down and out at HT losing 3-0 (and it could easily have been more). Shame RL-C has missed out on all this invaluable cup experience.

RLC is quite young, he'll still be eligible for next 2 FAYC appearances(health permitting, similar problems undid him for last 2 seasons as Juni would confirm) if I'm not mistaken so plenty of time.

I like Chalobah as DM in these youth levels, we took control over mf after the reshuffle, him & Swift made big difference in midfield. As Barry said before, glad to see Swift doing well before qualifiers start. Lew Baker was probably only one better whom you can name from that poor CFC first half.

I'm aware RL-C will be eligible for years to come - just sayin' pity he missed out yet again.

ps Is there some reason why when posting the thread doesn't move to the top as normal - mods?

Aye sure, another lad Danny Stenning might be fit in time for the second leg who has had terrible luck wrt injuries. RLC, as much promising as he is, also has got this injury scare in early days. Shame really, glad that Kiwomya is fit now, has been super sub so far.

Kiwomya was onto the keepers spill like a ferret - for the winner.
