For anyone who's interested, I've updated my entry on the current round of games with highlights from Montserrat-Belize and a link to a local recap of TCI-Bahamas.
You've already been corrected on how the current formula works, but I'll also add, this appears to be a misconception about how the old formula worked too. It was never the case that losses didn't hurt your ranking. The way it used to be, your points for the previous year would be determined by ranking the point value of all of your matches, taking the top seven as they were, and averaging the rest and adding those as an eighth. A loss in a prospective top seven game would have a significant opportunity cost, and over and above that, it would also reduce the average of "the rest".
Belize is making plans to play the second leg of their World Cup qualifier with Montserrat in Honduras, even though the FFB is still suspended by FIFA and the June 30 deadline for resolution has passed. http://7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=20040 If the match is not played by Sunday, Belize will forfeit and Montserrat will advance to the 3x4.
It could make a good trivia question years from now about Montserrat: What was the last country to advance a round in World Cup qualifying without earning any wins or draws in the previous round?
Do you think it's the last? For 2010, Kuwait and Indonesia both accomplished that feat, and the only reason it didn't happen in CAF was that two teams withdrew in time for a re-draw.
FT: Anguilla 0 - 2 Dominican Republic. Jonothan Fana Frias, who plays with Puerto Rico Islanders, had the second goal in the 42'. The return leg in the Dominican will be on July 10.
FT: Aruba 4 : 2 St. Lucia Game was tied 1:1 at half time and 2:2 in the 50th minute. Aruba scored twice in the final 20 minutes to pull away. 2nd leg is in St. Lucia on July 12.
Been searching and searching and can't find it. I was wondering if the next stage of CONCACAF Qualifying where the teams are drawn into 6 groups of 4, they say the games will be played in Sept and Oct 2011. Are they just gonna play 3 games? or they gonna fit 6 in that?
According to the official format, the elementary-round games will take place "from 2 September to 15 November 2011."
