    Hey ya, I noticed that. For Toronto, I'd say the Red Squirrels, cuz what other wild animal is there in Toronto, besides birds? I mean, I see these little freaks in the winter, too. Rats with a good press agent ... ta-dum ....

    If you prefer more stationary ... Red oaks ...uh .. I tried (I guess)

    I earlier argued that Biancorossi had never been really used. Just now, reading a write-up on TFC's 0-1 loss to DCU, the author used the Italian nickname. Alright, fine. But what struck me as odd, that I probably should have realized before, was that we can't really be called the Biancorossi anymore since we now officially use a full red home kit. It was featured in the last few games of the last season and has been confirmed by TFC that the change to all red is official. Guess that rules out Biancorossi. :)

    Good point. Its too bad. Rossi doesn't sound as good without another colour tacked on... giallorossi, rossonero, etc.

    Come on you grigiorossi!!! :D

    Haha. Maybe a few more games of squirrel pitch invasions and that nickname might stick.

    I don't like the all red kit. I find single colours kind of lacking. Our kit should be Red and White, we're Canadian dammit!

    Some teams' nicknames come from the location of their stadium, maybe TFC could become the "Exhibitionists". :D

    j/k

    How many countries outside of Italy use nicks based on italian words for colours? England? Germany? Portugal? I know of other countries that have this tradition (Portugal's Maritimo is often the "verde-rubros" -- green-red --and Argentina's national team is known as the "albicelestes" -- white and sky blue, and of course, Liverpool's "Reds") but in every case, the team nick is in the language of the base country.

    It would be as goofy as the "Real" in "Real Salt Lake":eek:

    I agree with Blizzard. I think this would be a great name for the travelling supporters. When we go on the road supporting the team, we are The Red Army.

    I agree, the Jury is still out! I don't care I am calling them the Redcoats but I'm not going to shove it down people's throat!

    Reds = Generic

    Biancorossi = Italian Generic

    Just wait, Latinos will start calling the Team Los BlancoRojo... which is the same as Biancorossi...Generic!

    There was some white caps fan who used to always suggest that name on this board. Sorry, but I can't see why anyone would think that nickname is a good idea unless used as a derogatory nickname by opposing team fans.

    Given that he is a Sounders' fan, I think that was the point... ;)

    Cheers!

    Hey....It's original and it's significant to TFC history :). Makes me think of the Toffees (is that Fulham?)

    Actually, Toronto has a large concentration of black squirrels on the north grounds of the provincial parliament building downtown. Great amusement watching them scurry.
