...everywhere a mock-mock. At the risk that MLS Superdraft mock draft pollution contributes to global warming, here is another: SJE - Patrick Nyarko (Virginia Tech) DAL - Julius James (Connecticut) RSL - Andy Iro (UCSB) LAG - Pat Phelan (Wake Forest) COL - Eric Avila (UCSB) CMB - Chance Myers (UCLA) CHI - Mike Videira (Duke) DAL - Brek Shea (U17) TOR - Eric Brunner (Ohio State) TOR - El Hadj Cisse (North Carolina State) KCW - Xavier Balc (Ohio State) CHI - Josh Lambo (U17) NER - Julian Valentin (Wake Forest) RSL - Peter Lowry (Santa Clara) SJE - Jon Leathers (Furman) NYR - Roger Espinoza (Ohio State)
Well, not really. I posted about that earlier in another thread even before it was announced by "The Kansas City Star", but I didn't have any confirmation yet so I just left it out of my mock. If it's truly a done deal, then here we go with the update: KCW - Patrick Nyarko (Virginia Tech) DAL - Julius James (Connecticut) RSL - Andy Iro (UCSB) LAG - Pat Phelan (Wake Forest) COL - Eric Avila (UCSB) CMB - Chance Myers (UCLA) CHI - Mike Videira (Duke) DAL - Brek Shea (U17) TOR - Eric Brunner (Ohio State) TOR - El Hadj Cisse (North Carolina State) KCW - Dominic Servi (Tulsa) CHI - Josh Lambo (U17) NER - Julian Valentin (Wake Forest) RSL - Peter Lowry (Santa Clara) SJE - Xavier Balc (Ohio State) NYR - Roger Espinoza (Ohio State)
Updated, commented, and extended through round 2. KCW - Patrick Nyarko Well, yeah. DAL - Julius James or Eric Avila I wish it hadn't come so early in regard to its domino effect, but this is the wildcard. More specifically, one player - Adrian Serioux. His best position is center back, but Morrow seems he will pair him with Ricchetti in midfield. Thus James is the pick. But this team has lacked a central creative force in recent years, which could and should be remedied by moving Alvarez into the middle or drafting Avila, the best player available. RSL - Julius James or Andy Iro Eddie Pope's logical successor. LAG - Pat Phelan Can be used to ease Cronin's debut or have Beckham's back. COL - Eric Avila or Peter Lowry The attack is heavily tilted toward wingers Clark and Cooke, and Clavijo seems to lack faith in Cancela and Ballouchy. CMB - Chance Myers Can solve the left back puzzle, freeing O'Rourke to return to his defensive midfield role. CHI - Dominic Servi If Pickens is expected to leave, conventional wisdom would dictate local product Lambo here. But Hamlett may feel presuure to win now. DAL - Brek Shea May bring some of the attacking brio that Morrow expected from Denilson. TOR - Andy Iro or Eric Brunner Marshall is getting a bit long in the tooth, and captain Brennan is more suited to midfield. TOR - Roger Espinoza Creativity is needed on the left flank. Samuel is a duck out of water there. KCW - Eric Brunner or Yomby William Well, yeah. CHI - Ricardo Pierre-Louis Hamlett gives Blanco another weapon. NER - Josh Lambo Nicol can't believe his eyes. RSL - Peter Lowry or Stephen King Kreis built a nice forward line last year. Now he needs somebody to stir the pot. SJE - Stephen King or George Josten Yallop finally inches his mind away from the defensive third. NYR - Yomby William or Julian Valentin A clear need pick. Might trade up for a chance at Chance, which would allow VDB to return to left midfield. RSL - Mike Videira Best available, and nicely polished for his age. NER - Andrew Jacobsen Same as above. DAL - Alex Nimo Fits two of Morrow's parameters at this point - forward and Gen Adidas CMB - George Josten or Jon Leathers Both positions are needs. LAG - Xavier Balc Stock is falling, but worth a gamble with Gullit needing more offensive parts. DAL - Rob Valentino Another Gen Adidas who is near-future ready KCW - El Hadj Cisse A tad slow, but should be decent cover for Victorine with Burciaga gone. DCU - Ciaran O'Brien Soehn could use some central midfield depth, and he will be happy with the option here. KCW - Brian Edwards Decent candidate to be Hartman's successfor. CHI - Julian Valentin or Jon Leathers or Lukasz Tumicz The pickings are getting slim. NER - Sean Franklin Another shrewd choise by Nicol. Can be groomed as Heap's understudy. LAG - Tony Beltran Triple logical - defensive player, Gen Adidas, local product.
