Default Re: 6/24, USA v Mexico -- general post-match thread {R}

An absolutely great super classico. Top be honest, after the US pulled even, I would not have been devastated with a loss. The US had earned the equalizer, which really surprised me, and from that point on, it was pure gravy. I did not expect this team to show the fortitude that it did in coming back. But it did.

Feilhaber scored perhaps the greatest goal I've ever seen a US player score. I mean that in terms of technical ability, not in terms of context. The FSC feed did not show the original strike, and initially I thought it was a half volley. Nope, it was a fully volley, perfectly placed. At that point I was shocked, as was Mexico. It was as if no one believed an American had the technique to strike a ball that cleanly. There were a few moments of nervousness in the latter stages, but that strike shocked on every level to the point that Mexico resorted to long balls into the box the rest of the game.

Anyone see Feilhaber in the post-game interview? Happiest man in the world, for sure, and getting a high five from every American in the tunnel.

I'm so happy, I probably won't poop for three days.
