I'll post the final list of the year tomorrow. It's a pain without Y-A.com doing all the leg work for me. We'll be starting on the new list next week!
Here it is-- the final list of the 06-07 season. We crown Brian McBride as our goal-scoring champion. That's a significant improvement over last year where two third-division players were at the top. This time, we had a race between two Americans playing in two of the top leagues in the world. Next time we can hope for real US Internationals doing the same thing. Big Brad tops our clean sheet list, but that's by virtue of playing in more Cup and UEFA Cup matches than any other keeper. Both Timmy and Marcus, who only have Premiership clean sheets to their record, gave him a real run for the money. The end result of watching both keepers and scorers is what I expected-- our Yank keepers are ahead of our Yank goal scorers right now. I'll have another thread up and running next week (hopefully, I'll not start it until someone scores or keeps a clean sheet). Hopefully YA.com will be updating this weekend. If not, I'll appreciate everyone's help keeping track of the goals and clean sheets. Cheers! Joe. Great job on this Joe! This thread is one of my favorites... Just a question, what was the goals total in '05-'06, and did we beat it in '06-'07?
If memory serves me correctly, we fell short by 2. However, the weighted average of our goals (if we could weight goals by the quality of the league in which they were scored) rose dramatically-- far more Premiership and Serie A goals this year and far more Championship and BL3 goals last year. I'll try to do a quick wrap up over the weekend.
By the way, the final weekend of German action is this weekend, so it makes sense to run this year's list one more week. Hopefully our BL3 guys can give us a few goals and push us over last year's total. So, expect one more update early next week. Then I have to figure out how to post the list on BigSoccer Wiki.
Marc Heider (Werder Bremen II) just scored twice vs Union Berlin, see: http://www.kicker.de/fussball/regionalliga/vereinenord/spielersteckbrief/object/38440/saison/2006-07
Don't know if you would include this on the list at all....Clint Dempsey, Benny Felihaber, DaMarcus Beasley, AND Gooch scored against China on Saturday
Nice. If FirstStar's memory was correct, these two help the '06-'07 list tie the total for '05-'06.... with the greater percentage of the '06-'07 goals being against higher levels of competition. Looks like David Yelldell got a Clean Sheet this weekend as well.
Then why is there a column for World Cup? If you're going to count ANY national team goals, then you should count them ALL. (Personally, I'd be in favor of removing the WC goals - and leaving the table for just club results.)
Please see post #15. World Cup glory lasts forever (or at least until June 2, which is when I closed the book on this year's list).
Here it is- the end of the German BL3 season is now the new tradition for the end of the YA Goal Scorers list. Last year we counted 110 YA goals, and this year we counted 114. That marginal increase in number saw a large increase in the quality of the leagues in which Yanks play. Last year's top four were Joe Zewe (B 1909/Denmark D3) with 14, Brian McBride (Fulham/England D1) with 10, Ryan Coiner (Holstein Kiel/Germany D3) with 10 and Bobby Convey (Reading/England D2) with 7. This years top four scored in the Prem, Serie A, Championship and (mostly) France's second Division. I'd say across the board improvement, but still a long way to go to post a list as respectible as our second list . . . The YA Clean Sheet list is pretty damn impressive. From Brad's impressive run in Europe to Timmy's and Marcus' excellent play in the Prem, I think the hard numbers show that the Yank keepers are a cut above. I'll have next season up and running as soon as someone notches a goal or a clean sheet. I appreciate everyone's help in posting results here and I really appreciate Y-A.com and Soccerway.com for making this work much, much easier. Cheers!! Kennedy had another shutout this past weekend and is up to 5 for the season. (Countess got hurt in practice this week and didn't play in Osorno's win that put them alone atop the table in Chile-2)
IK Sirius and Östers IF is in the same divison, wich is the second highest in Sweden. Just wanted it to be right.
IIRC, Sirius got promoted and Osters got relegated, leading to them now both being in the second devision. If I'm wrong, please let me know.
New List: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=550580 DK-- can you unsticky this thread and sticky up the new list? thanks.
