Re: CCC Game Canceled on 3/14 Dynamo vs Pachuca rescheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday 3/15/07 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...c/4632083.html
I guess you won't need your tickets. Let me have them. I'll honor them by using them I'll give you .20 cents on the dollar
OL states in the link that your wed tix will be honored on thurs. an excuse to leave work early...excellent!
Re: CCC Game Canceled on 3/14 Fox Soccer Channel just flashed the same thing, looks like they'll show the match live at 6pm ET. Thursday.
This is ridiculous! I don't know if the power outage came in the last minute before the game, but when I checked the website at 6:10 there was nothing about a cancellation. I sat over an hour in traffic each way...not making me a happy camper And now; starting a game at 5pm when most people are just getting of work. That's just disrespectful to the fans. I'm sure there is some lame reason, like the Mexican team has to get back by Thursday evening or something like that, but it still sucks. I'm predicting a maximum of 5K crowd - and it will be without me. Gotta work!!!
So they had to make a decision on whether the game could be played Thurs or not - don't forget that Pachuca has a game this weekend in Mexico, so they can't hang around Houston indefinitely. I'm guessing that they selected this time for one of two reasons: 1. They aren't sure if they can get the lights working, so just in case they can't, this game is early enough to not need lights 2. They didn't want it to conflict with the DC United gametime Regardless, it's far from ideal but I'm sure they didn't have a lot of choices.
Hey Jump, the tree limb fell on the power lines around 4.15 pm and the power lines snapped pulling down the electrical lines to Robertson Stadium and smokin the transformer. This happened 150 yards perhaps from the tailgate site. Many of us witnessing it and thusly reporting the outage to Reliant Energy.
I feel your pain Sir. but it was out of their hands, really. I got there around 6:15 or so, and I think the power went out just before six. I would sure like to have you with us when we beat the crap out of the Tuzos. so please be there with us. pretty please.
Wait a minute !! If it they lost power around 4:15 they would have enough time to tell all the media for the five o' clock news Univision said the game was still on around 5:20 PM.
They gotta work with what they got. I think they realize that they won't have as big of a crowd tomorrow, but this was obviously out of their hands. Hopefully we'll have a dry field tomorrow...
Unless they were trying to fix it. They may not have known the extent of the damage until they actually tried to work the stadium lights, etc...just speculating (mira no mas que chingon! especulating! usando palabras de domingo como diria mi abuelo).
Why tomorrow 5 pm ? a) Roberston is only available during this week ,because of spring break b) 5 p.m : still daytime , they don't know yet , if the light will be back in time the transformer was burning / smoking , so that will take time to get it fixed c) Pachuca has a game on Saturday >>> so thursday 5 p.m was the solution
Re: CCC Game Canceled on 3/14 Just got this via email from the Dynamo Office... Dynamo fans, Tonights CONCACAF Champions Cup semi-final game vs Pachuca was cancelled after lightning caused a power outage at Robertson Stadium. We apologize for the inconvenience. The game has been re-scheduled for tomorrow March 15, 2007 at 5pm. All previously issued tickets will be honored. For additional tickets or more information, please call the Dynamo at 713 276 7500. Thanks for your support and understanding.
The powers that be from Reliant Energy arrived about 30 minutes later. The main concerns were to evacuate the UH Dorms and block off the street. The Bus for Pachuca didn't arrive till nearly 6pm because they were stuck in traffic, like so many others. The decision on when to reschedule didn't occur till after they arrived. Hope this clears up some of the mystery.
*Ding, ding, ding* I feel a nasty headache coming on. I think I'm okay to go in to work tomorrow, but it's gonna get pretty bad at about 2pm PST.
