Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) I'm just getting in to the club and I was wondering if you guys could explain some of the nicknames or traditions, i had trouble finding info, particlularly about abandonar. I already undertand the canalla stuff. thanks.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) *This is what I understand; In 1997 Rosario Central played Newell's Old Boys in the 'Clasico' of the city of Rosario. (Arguably the rowdiest Argentine derby behind Boca - River). Anyways, Central was enjoying a comfortable lead in front of the home crowd. Several Newell's players were ejected, and around the 60th minute a NOB player was hurt. Game over, 30 minutes early. Newell's left the field. Obviously, Newell's fans claim that due to the ref's bad calls and injuries, they had no choice but to forfeit. Rosario fans accused the Newells players of getting down right violent, purposely trying to accrue red cards and faking injuries when the game was well out of reach. Central called it an 'abondono', and has subsequently used that term to label what they see as the Newell's fans habit of violently disrupting games their team is losing. Ask a Newells fan, and they are the 'club que nunca abandona', ask a Central fan, and what NOB fans did last weekend during the losing effort against River Plate was just latest 'abandono' of many.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Thanks, it was hard to find an explanation of that.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) it basically means abandoning the game. so forcing a suspension pretty much
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) This video doesn't really show a lot of the rock/cement throwing, just when the game was called and the fans started to abandon their stadium. ***

Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Rosario Central vs Banfield 16:30 ET - Estadio Rosario Central *Getting a little love from La Nacion for today's match against Banfield. BANFIELD: Enrique Bologña o Pablo Santillo; Guillermo Esteban, Carlos Galván, Marcos Galarza, Javier Sanguinetti y Julio Barraza; Carlos Salvatierra, Gastón Schmit, Angel Morales y Silvio González; Dario Cvitanich y Josemir Lujambio. CANCHA: Rosario Central. ARBITRO: Héctor Baldassi. HORA: 18.30
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Same as always; backwards. I'm afraid our club suffers from the same ailments of many others, power struggles, corruption, and fiscal irresponsibility. Luckily this team has a huge and dedicated fan base, and due to the constant cries from due paying members, things are changing. Many years, we have the players, stadium atmosphere, and overall passion to rival any Argentine team. If we can get to a point where nothing outside the field is holding the team back we just might surprise some people.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) The youth system as well? It's weird because I think Rosario actually is well managed if you compare it to other cities in Argentina and Rosario should be big enough to support 2 teams in Primera
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Young talent is and has been in steady supply. Keeping them around is the problem. But we're really not alone in that club. Euro/Mexican money talks. Luckily lots of players vow to come back and actually do (Kily for example.) There were some problems last season concerning money owed to the players from some tournaments. A couple issues lingered into this season, but things seem to be settled now. Rosario does have two teams in primera, Newell's Old Boys is the other. They're easy to forget about though.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Like I don't know that Newell's is from Rosario The point is that Rosario must be managed badly because there are teams in Argentina that can keep there better players for a longer time and actually sell them when the value is high. Rosario Central should be able to do that as well, and that would make them much better team. I can't really comment on what goes wrong at Central, but something must be wrong
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) my personal opinnion on the matter is that rosario has extrmely bad maangement, and not just central but los penguinos as well. if you look at argentine's biggest talent base, well it comes from rosario. the problem is that corrupt president and business men sell the young player's for their own profit's. if both teams kept they're youth past the level which they do then they would be constantly fighting the libertadores. look at river, most players are either from central or newell's. and boca has many from them as well. san lorenzo and central used to be friends therefore we've had many great players come from there.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Other then Marino who was from Newell's I can't name another player from Boca
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) nery carozo came from there, cata diaz came from colon but originally rosariono. the thing with boca is that they ussually get the players before they are decently known.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Nery Cardozo is from Godoy Cruz and came through the inferiores of Boca, could be that he lived in Rosario though
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) no it could be that i heard wrong, but ususaly the big argentine clubs buy from los rosarino's

Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) To answer your question Paul, yes, you are correct, very poor team management. I can say this although it pains me to the core as a 'socio' of the club. It's a damn shame to say it, but what has held Central back so much througout all these years is Cental itself (i.e. the Directors of the Club). I know every Argentine team deals with these issues to some extent, but it seems like the corruption never stops. Last year there were obvious problems that seem to have been addressed and resolved, but the damage is done. Did you see the exodus of players from Rosario after last season? It wasn't because of coaching, the fans, or issues on the field. Things seem to be improving. A lot of sh*t hit the fan, and IMHO that's a good thing. If other teams don't think they have the same problems they're kidding themselves, and the day they need to address those issues will come. I'm just glad we're (Central) moving on, and the focus is back on the pitch. Notwithstanding, in any league in any country in the world, the best medicine is winning. We need to get back into the top 5 of the league standings, get back into Libertadores and Sudamericana, and get back to repaying Centrals AWESOME fans for their incredible support.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Is there an estimation about how much turn-over and profit a team makes with one SudAmericana or Libertadores game?
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) *That's a great question. I wish I could give you an exact answer. I'm sure somebody on these boards would know. That was one of the specific issues that caused a problem recently, players were due money from the SudAmericana tournament.
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) Rosario Central 1 - Banfield 1 *Is Banfield decent this year, okay yeah maybe. *Have we lost this year? No. *Was it a terrible game? No. Still, after opening up with a win, and gaining a point at Boca, tying Banfield at home was a let down. Bottom line is, after 3 fechas we have 5 points when we very realistically could have 9. As always there was one shining bright spot on the day; the fans. Here's how several Argentine media outlets rated Central's play:
Re: Rosario Central...el thread mas canalla! 2006/07 (r) *Speaking of players I wished we could've kept forever... Here's a decent compilation I recently saw of Marco Ruben and Cristian Villagra. ***Es su casa, pueden volver cuando quieran!***
