There is about a .0001% chance that it would happen. Milwaukee has no suitable location in its metro area to have a team play until a stadium is built.
How about Madison? That would kick butt. just joking of course. We could play at Camp Randall. Or do you think getting 82,000 soccer fans would be to tough?
Camp Randall?! Come on, be serious. Mansfield would be a much better venue. Although Mount Horeb does have a very nice soccer stadium. So you would have to consider that as well.
Miller Park, configurated for soccer= 28-35k? Scheduling similar to DCU/Nationals at RFK? I am obviously not from your neck of the woods, so all I really know are Lambeau, Camp Randall, and Miller
Too bad UW-Milwaukee or "Wisconsin State" which ever you prefer doesn't have an American football team. I bet the "new" team could play there until a new SSS could be built. Ah what if. Miller Park looks to be a front runner for the area. However, what's the closest UW Division lll school? Whitewater? It would be a step up from Kansas City's high school field next season. Oh, and anything but "ReAL" Milwaukee.
Yup, while the turf is good the curvature of the field would be disorienting. How about Breese Stevens?
Valley Field is pretty small in terms of seating... only a couple of thousand. Breese Stevens has a capacity of 6,000 in Madison, that would be a start. UWM's Engelmann field only seats about 1,500 and the rest is standing space. Really the most apporpriate place... and I know no one wants to hear this... is Uihlien Park. It seats 7,000 (I am assuming it is still the same as when the Rampage/ Wave United played there). It looks like if the owners of RSL are going to move anywhere it will be St. Louis. I don't know about you all, but I am getting rather discouraged with prospects in Milwaukee. Please someone talk me out of starting to think that our MLS dream is just that... a dream.
Capacity is 4,965, according to the city. And zero, I mean zero, parking. It's hard to find parking when they have 200 people at the game there. And then there's the locker rooms, facilities, etc. The place is seriously like a dungeon down there. Scary. As much as I love the place, there is no way you could play a professional game there in the forseeable future. And as much as it pains me to agree, Uihlein probably would be the best place right now. Ugh.
I have only been to Uihlein Park a couple of times, mostly for H.S. soccer State Championships. Would it be easy to expand to at least 10,000 seats? And are there just two sides of bleachers or is it a U? I don't remember, however I recall it isn't a complete oval. Any one have an idea for a new investors, that in lue of resent events in Salt Lake City. Harley? Herb Kohl? I don't know who has money in the Milwaukee area.
Move them to Milwaukee? Maybe play at Marquette or Miller Park until land is found. Too bad that group from the cheese factory (Grande?) that won the lottery a couple months back couldn't invest into the team. They bought the ticket from FdL.
We have land for the stadium, we believe we also have govt. support for the necessary TIF, we have commitments for nearly as many season ticket equivalents (8,000) as the Brewers have (10,000 - according to this morning's J-S) and we have a good group of local minority investors. What we don't have is the lead investor and that also prevents us from making a bid for RSL. We continue to pursue leads, however. peter
Bad news for Global's mixed-use/baseball stadium project in Tulsa... http://www.tulsabusinessjournal.com/article.asp?aID=44082 Would these problems affect Milwaukee's efforts?
