Player revolt ????

Macateer has hinted at a player revolt hmmmmmm.

I think he is shitting himself ...

I also think that Macateer should keep his thoughts to himself and i do not think his attitude would represent the opinion of the rest of the team , especially the younger lads .

He said that some of the older lads would b looking at thier involvement ...who was he refering too? Himself and who else ?

Does anybody have an opinion about Macateer is aluding to?

Is he not going to open up another crock of sh1t for the next manager ?

The only thing I can think of is that he's not a fan of the idea Roy Keane could return to the team when fit, due to Mick's resignation. Typical behaviour from McAteer this.

McAteer and Keane have being going at it since Keane's book, McAteers comments about it and then their handbags when Man Utd played Sunderland. Also Jason and Mick appeared to be good friends.

Seems to me McAteer would do well to stop mouthing off as it is not doing anyone any good. Since when does he speak on behalf of the team? I think the majority of Irish fans would rather see Ireland line out with Roy than him, maybe this annoys him too?

He also came came out having a go at the Irish media over Mick's resignation yesterday.

MacAteer is just a loud-mouth- he's days in the Ireland squad are numbered at any rate- hopefully Reid will fulfill his potential in the next year- Then 'Trigger' can mouth all he wants from the stands

You're right about McAteer and Keane still bitching over the Sunderland game, and that he should keep quiet. But I'm afraid it just isn't going to happen, and I know from experience being a Blackburn fan. I've lost count of the times he's moaned to the press that he's not playing, and how he should because he's in the Irish team. Yet almost every time he was in a Rovers shirt he wasn't very good.

I'd much rather have Dunn, Flitcroft, Thompson and Tugay than McAteer.

i can't see a revolt (with the exception of mcateer). the senior players don't have the influence any more and a new manager isn't going to have any loyalties to repay.

nobaody, and i mean nobody, in the team will have the balls to confront keane IF he comes back.

Of the senior players, as far as I'm aware, only Holland and Trigger have said anything overtly negative about Keane. I don't recall anything being said by Given, Harte, Gary Kelly, Breen, Kinsella, Duff or Robbie Keane while Cuningham made some very conciliatory noises.

If those two want to stage a rebellion and walk out, I say go for it. Neither have displayed any passion in the last couple of games and could do with being dropped anyway.

If Breen, Kilbane and Harte want to join them, I'd heartily endorse their recalcitrance.

I think we can put this thread to bed.

Quotes from the bould MacAteer on RTE's site...

Jason McAteer has urged Roy Keane to forget old arguments and return to the Republic of Ireland international set-up. McAteer said: "I am a big fan of Roy Keane - he is a world-class player and we are going to benefit from having him. After all that has gone on between me and Roy, I do actually like Roy. What happened is part and parcel of football.

"I am not going to walk away and say I hate Roy Keane for what happened because I don't. At the end of 90 minutes you shake each other's hand and get on with it," added the Sunderland star.

McAteer and Keane had a high profile bust-up which saw the Manchester United captain sent off for elbowing McAteer in the Premiership clash at the Stadium of Light in August. McAteer had previously said he would "rather buy a Bob The Builder CD for my two-year-old son" than buy a copy of Keane's autobiography.

He added: "You can never question Roy's commitment, talent or experience. But he made the decision to walk away from the World Cup. He had his own reasons, and whatever they were, the decision was up to him."

So is any manager going to have those same balls to confront Keane? Or will the FAI give Keane the final vote on the new choice? Keane now rules all?

wouldn't think keane rules all. it's time for everyone to kiss and make up. this could be the start of an enlightened era (tongue firmly in cheek!)
