What happened? I read here three weeks ago that it would be decided if he'd be signed in a week. Was he not signed then? Was that his last chance in MLS?

Good followup question, but I'm guessing the answer on him was "nah", hence the garbage about a young Argentine CD. Can't imagine we'd need much cap space to pickup Carlos right now.

its probably a case of virtue vs price. carlos may have a chance if the phantom defender comes in at the right price. otherwise...sorry charrie..

My guess about Chuck now is that if one of our starter's gets injured for a lengthy period, then we'll sign him- if the price isn't too bad. (It might be.)

Barring a major injury to Boswell prior to the arrival of defender 22 year old Walter Garcia of San Lorenzo (seemingly the Argie target of DC), it looks like the following transactions will happen:

    1. After this weekend, sign John Wilson-D (ex-Rochester Rhino) to a minimum contract ($30K or so) to take Petke's roster spot to provide veteran cover, mainly at LB and also CB if needed

    2. In August, sign Walter Garcia - trade/waive someone like Quintanilla or perhaps Guppy will want to leave by then since he will not be used to playing all summer in the DC humidity.

Llamosa seems to be on the outside looking in - Wilson is a longer, cheaper, more fit option in the short-run and Garcia is a former Argie U17 and U20 player with a few seasons of being a starter in the Argentine 1st Division, so he is a player on the rise.

When he was healthy and a bit younger, Carlos was great - But we remember him too much from the glory days - Gotta realize how old, fragile and costly he is - Getting Carlos is definitely a Plan C idea
