Re: Napoli in Serie C1

The Serie C schedule only started last week, just like the other divisions, but Napoli's first two games were delayed because their inclusion in the league (they are in Serie C1/B) wasn't confirmed until the last minute. So they haven't played a game yet. I haven't found a link to their complete schedule, but their first game takes place on Sept 26 at home vs Cittadella.

Re: Napoli in Serie C1

for Napoli to back get into serie A would take the minium of 4 years, 1 year C1B, 2 year c1A, 3 year b, 4 a. That is quiet a challege, even to get into B seems hard. hope it doesnt take long.

Forza Napoli

Re: Napoli in Serie C1

It won't take that long if the new president gets advice from the president of Fiorentina who managed to move from C2 to A in only two years. Of course, remember Napoli has been out of A for years already.

Here is an article examining how the team is shaping up:

BTW, I think I'll move this thread to the Southern Clubs board.

C1 A and B are equal and only distinguish between North and South (or at least used to until this year). A team in C1B gets promoted directly to B.

Just back from spending 2 weeks in Italy!! There is a lot of enthusiasm in Naples for the "new" team and we will likely break all records for C1 season ticket holders!

FORZA NAPOLI!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it did happen faster than normal, as they started in Serie C2 (strictly, it should've been Serie D, but they got special placement in D), then they got promoted the first year, but never had to play in Serie C1 because they got "promoted" straight to Serie B for "sporting merit" to replace Cosenza, and then they won promotion to Serie A. So they DID win promotion on the field twice in two years. It just should've required three (or four) promotions to get back to A.

Maradona's Shirt #10 Returns

This is just senseless:
Quote:

Napoli may be forced to bring Diego Armando Maradona’s legendary No 10 shirt out of retirement.

The Azzurri withdrew the number in 2000 out of respect to the Argentine, who led the club to two League titles.

However, it is set to return this season after the San Paolo outfit were demoted to Serie C1 following their financial collapse.

Serie C rules insist that clubs in their Division must field their sides with shirts that run from 1 to 11.

"It would be a shame to see that number used again," said Franco Baresi, whose Milan No 6 jersey was retired in 1997.

"Maradona is an important part of Napoli’s history but also Italian football. I hope that the relevant authorities can make an exception."
