50 clubs at risk
According to this:
http://it.sports.yahoo.com/040618/2/1mch.html at least 50 of the 132 professional clubs in Italy (Serie A thru C2) are at risk of not having the required financial backing to be admitted into the league for next season, according to an investigation by "Espresso" magazine. They only list the Serie A clubs in bad shape: Roma, Lazio, Parma, Brescia, Siena and Messina. I'm going to look around and see if I can find the entire list somewhere. |

Re: 50 clubs at risk
How can Sensi inject cash into the club? Isn't the club on the stock market?

Re: 50 clubs at risk
Seems like some laws are getting re-written to try and save Napoli and Lazio?
http://it.sports.yahoo.com/040624/4/1qzi.html Something about clubs with "particular relevance" being given some extra time to get their finances in order. Or something like that. Supposedly, the Petrucci Law is only relevant to smaller clubs. I guess that's because clubs with "particular relevance" get laws rewritten just for them. |

Re: 50 clubs at risk
Looks like Brindisi (Serie C2) is at risk.
http://www.calcio.com/ultime_news.php?id=21349 The only reason I noticed is that I recall they were as close to it gets to a Cinderella story in the Coppa Italia last season. They were a rare C2 team to even qualify for the Coppa Italia (a spot they earned by winning the previous year's Coppa Italia of Serie C). Then, mainly because of the strike by Serie B teams, they won their qualifying group and earned an even rarer opportunity to compete in the knockout phase vs a Serie A club - in this case, Bologna. Then, they even won the first leg, 3-2!! Alas, they lost in the return leg, 3-0. Anyway, I hope they manage to keep their spot in the league. |
