We’ve got our team back

Posted 02 Feb 2009 at 07:00 PM by John20

5 new signings then this January. Hang on, let me re-phrase that. 2 new signings then this January plus Defoe, Chimbonda and Keane. All three former players preferring a relegation dogfight with Arry to life at Portsmouth, Sunderland or Liverpool. Together with the new players Cudicini and Palacios, a total of £43 million has been leveraged from the Tottenham coffers to lift Spurs out of a spot of bother in the relegation zone.

More good news. Dos Santos is staying put and Keane to be new Tottenham captain....

The return of Pascal Chimbonda

Posted 26 Jan 2009 at 05:14 PM by John20

In a surprise move today, Tottenham Hotspurs dragged a kicking and screaming Pascal Chimbonda, the French defender from his employers’ premises in Sunderland and forced him to return at the dead of night to North London.

Reports suggest the Frenchman was bundled into the back of a transit van by officials of the Premier League Football Club while he was training with his Sunderland team-mates. Three other players, Teemu Tainio, Steed Malbranque and Kenwyne Jones were also targeted.

Once Chimbonda...

Tottenham V Portsmouth. “He didn't do it on purpose”

Posted 19 Jan 2009 at 05:54 PM by John20

In the 80th minute, with both teams level at 1-1, Darren Bent could and should have put an end to Tottenham’s six match winless run in the Premier League.

“My missus could have scored that”, said Arry, and indeed it was a shocking fluff that would have seen Spurs move out of the relegation zone up to 12th place had he converted it.

But this was Darren Bent. 14 goals from 52 appearances is a lousy return for a club record 16.5 million and this wasteful blunder will likely make him the laughing...

Tottenham shop to avoid the drop

Posted 15 Jan 2009 at 06:11 PM by John20

Once in a while, do you ever think back a couple of years to those two 5th place finishes?

Well stop. Welcome to relegation dog fight of all dog fights. Make no mistake, the players Tottenham bring in over the next two weeks are critical to our place in Premiership football.

First up the defence. Yes Gomes is staying but we do need extra cover for the Brazilian keeper and the name of Roy Carroll of Derby County has appeared large. The suggested price of...

Jenas first arrival in Redknapp’s departure lounge

Posted 13 Jan 2009 at 05:44 PM by John20

Jenas should have played against Wigan. Just 30 minutes in, it was plainly obvious that the midfield creativity Modric was offering was diminishing. Let’s hope that the Croatian was just having one of those ‘quiet ones’, because, good as he is, it simply wasn’t happening. What Modric needed, tucked behind the twin strikers, was someone who was more of a box-to-box player who could give our play some momentum. Ledley King looked as mobile as a tree. And Zakora and O’Hara...
