This was a fun week, especially for my predictions. Just goes to show that with parity, any team can beat any other team on any given day (for the most part).

New England Revolution 3, Kansas City Wizards 1
Maybe those young Africans will give New England a much needed boost while Twellman and Noonan are out. It seems they show up only about half the time, because God knows they were nowhere to be found at Toyota Park last week. And guess what? The Wizards CAN lose, even at home. They've got off to somewhat of a fast start, but look at the teams they've played (both at home): a tired D.C. squad coming off their Pachuca road loss, and an upstart Rapids team ripe for picking. Guess KC was the ones that were ripe in this match.

Prediction: Kansas City 3, New England 0
Result: Loss

Chicago Fire 1, San Jose Earthquakes 0
Good thing they only have to play in McAfee for 2 games against the Galaxy after this. The setup was probably the worst in the league. No intimacy whatsoever, A's signs all over the place, and it seemed like the fans in the front seats were miles away. As for the Quakes themselves, it's time to get rid of whatever hex is bothering them right now. Salinas with an open net to get a point (not to mention their first goal)? The laws of physics deemed it impossible for him to miss that shot, but somehow it was done. One more thing: is it me, or was Blanco on the ground in this game more than he was playing? Every time I looked, he 'tripped' over some SJ player. Anyway, the Fire seem to be rolling right now, and this looks to be a great year for Chicago fans.

Prediction: Chicago 4, San Jose 1
Result: Win

Columbus Crew 4, Chivas USA 3
Huh? OK, I can understand the Chivas putting 3 past Will Hesmer, even at Crew Stadium. But I've NEVER seen Guzan get lit up like he did in this match. He's only given up this many goals three times before: a 4-0 loss at Houston last June, a loss at New York in a 5-4 thriller, and an Open Cup loss to the Galaxy in their disastrous 2005 season. And to the Crew?? I don't think anyone saw this coming. Let's be honest, Columbus has some decent strikers in Moreno and Rogers, and a great playmaker in Schelotto, but it usually takes some work to put the pieces together. Congrats to Columbus, the 'hardest working team in MLS' actually lived up to their slogan on Saturday.

Prediction: Chivas USA 2, Columbus 0
Result: Loss

Colorado Rapids 1, New England Revolution 0
Here's an interesting little fun fact: the Rapids haven't won at Gillette Stadium since the year it opened (2002). Until now. The Revs kept Coundoul busy for most of this match, but he flat out shut them down. Colorado, on the other hand, only had one shot on goal all game. The difference: that one shot went in, and that's all that matters. Congrats to Nick LaBrocca on that shot, giving him his first career goal.

Prediction: Colorado 1, New England 1
Result: Loss

Houston Dynamo 0, Kansas City Wizards 0
Will the Wizards just go on the road already? When's the last time a team has started out with 4 games at home? (For the record, it has been done twice before - both in 2000: the Dallas Burn went 3-1, and the Miami Fusion went 1-0-3) This must have been a borefest, although I wouldn't know, considering I have no access to HDNet and therefore MLS won't even give me highlights. And might I add, at the pace Houston's going, they're going to win MLS Cup yet again, because just like last year, they're having a Champions' Cup hangover and stumbling out of the gate.

Prediction: Houston 2, Kansas City 1
Result: Loss

FC Dallas 2, New York Red Bulls 0
Talk about turning the tables on the Bulls. Last week, they scored 47 seconds in against the Crew at home. Saturday, Arturo Alvarez scored only 51 seconds in to give the half-Hoops the early edge, and they held on the rest of the match. As for shot accuracy, yikes. Horrible shooting percentage for New York, as they only got 2 on net out of 14 shots. They aren't going to win anything with that kind of aim.

Prediction: FC Dallas 2, New York 2
Result: Loss

Real Salt Lake 4, D.C. United 0
Am I the only person that isn't surprised by this result? History repeats itself once again at Rice-Eccles, as RSL manhandles DC in a 4-0 thrashing. With the games Real were having, the time was right for them to finally break through, and with DC's poor record in Utah, they were ripe for the picking. Kyle Beckerman showed he's clearly the leader of this team, and Dema Kovalenko came out of the woodwork to get on the stat sheet against his former club. I guess, with knowing as much as I did about this game, I should've picked RSL as my team for the week for MLS Survivor, because this game was pretty much a lock.

Prediction: Salt Lake 3, D.C. United 1
Result: Win

Toronto FC 3, Los Angeles Galaxy 2
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Galaxy fans, it just did. Toronto gets the second road win of their young existence (the first being a 2-1 victory at RSL) It was a pretty good show, considering it was in Spanish, which made it all the more exciting. To those of you who were complaining about Cunningham's haul down of Vanney to get the game winner, Marco Velez inadvertently fell on the ball in the box to give the Galaxy the gift penalty. So in other words, it evened out. Great showing by TFC, including hot head Amado Guevara, who somehow kept his cool in this match. Let's see how long that lasts.

Prediction: Toronto 2, Los Angeles 2
Result: Loss

This week's record: 2-6
Season results: 10-11
