Greece
Greece, the didn't qualify for the world cup in 2002 (but will be remembered for Beckhams kick against them which sent england into the world cup) And there was no greece team in the 2006 edition either. But who can forget Euro 2004, coming out of nowhere the greek team won the intire event getting there only 21st century international football tournament victory. In 2008 Greece has a disapointing Euro championships, not making it to the next round and failing too do anything that ever looked as if they would. But even if this group doesn't have the highest level of competition it is still impressive that the greek team leads, and good for them.

Isreal
Isreal was not in Euro 2004, nor 2008. They were not in any of the recent world cup either, yet the Isreal team is still in good position in group 2. Isreal has quite the soccer history, they won the Asain cup and then where turned into the UEFA latter but where never able to get into a Euro championship, they also have only been included in one world cup in which they did not get a win. I have mixed feelings about Isreal but i don't think they will be able to qualify for the world cup... At least not this year

Switzerland
Switzerland, the co-host of the 2008 edition of the Euro tournament. The didn't have much sucsess. They did bring to the table one of the best if not the very best Euro tournament. But there team was only able to get one win and did not get into the group stages. But Switzerland is not a bad team at all, they are only the second team in this division to have been included in the Euro tournament in 2008. They were in 2004 as well. They were the only team in the world cup 2006 in this group and made it to round 2. So with all that under there belts it can't be said that they arn't contenders too take this group.

Latvia
Never made a world cup never made a Euro championship. Latvia isn't much of a backrounded soccer team. The Latvians only have 4 points compared to the division leaders who have 9. So Latvia probably isn't going to qualify for the world cup. And even in the smaller shadows of Switzerland and Isreal Latvia looks really small. But it doesn't mean that Latvia can't come back, however unlikly we have seen smaller less wellknown soccer teams all over the world leading teams which are usually thought to be dominating these lower teams.

Luxembourg
I can't say that i have heard of this country, because i havn't, but Europe is so big that i can't say i now the names of a good number of countries. Luxembourg is another team which has no international experiance in the means that they have never qualified for the World cup of soccer or for a european tournament. I don't know much at all about Luxembourg other than it is a country in europe and it is in the third international qualification group in the 2009 World cup qualification 2nd group.

Moldova
The only team in this division who doens't have at least two points at this point in time. Moldova is not going to make the world cup and that is final. But they are a really new country. Moldova is an international noob if you can put it that way. They have never qualified for a world cup or a euro but that is because they are a completly new country. For many years they were part of the Russian Federation before recently become a country and before that they were part of Romania. Moldova is just new, so they arn't even in the same class as the rest of these teams.

you could at least do some friggin' research!? 'I haven't heard of this team' Christ almighty. I cannot believe this rubbish.
It's spent 'Israel' and the group stages are the first three games of the tournament... so Switzerland WERE in the group stages. The next bit is the KNOCKOUT STAGES.Posted 15 Feb 2009 at 05:19 PM by Mullets
