Ryan Hinds of the West Indies is hit in an uncomfortable area as former England skipper Nasser Hussain looks on in amusement on the opening day of the first Test. Hinds scored an exciting 84 from 117 deliveries.

Has anybody played the new EA "Cricket 2004" PC-game?

I'd like to get it for my brother in law who is a big cricket fan but I just want to know if it's realistic enough for a knowledgable fan.

Thanks.

Boycott earns respect (http://foxsports.news.com.au/story/0,8659,9352077-23209,00.html)

leg spinner McGill asks to be left out of australia's trip to Zimbabwe, ""I told then that I was uncomfortable about touring Zimbabwe at this point in time and maintaining a clear conscience," he said.

20 yr old cameron white is his replacement.

if you are not sure why he's not going and why england refused to go there-

Zimbabwe continues to be suspended from the Commonwealth because of President Robert Mugabe's reign of terror.

Mr Mugabe has been condemned internationally for rigging last year's presidential elections and evicting white farmers.

Race-related cricket tensions have escalated with 15 senior Zimbabwean players refusing to play for their country after Test captain Heath Streak stood down, claiming the side was being selected on race instead of form.

I am a huge cricket fan and own the game on Playstation2, and can honestly say that it's well worth buying if you like cricket. The graphics and gameplay aren't quite as smooth on the PC version then they are on the PS2, so if your brother in law owns a Playstation2, get that version if you can. :)

It will be interesting to see if the Zimbabwe tour even goes ahead with Zimbabwe likely to field a second string side against the Aussies. It hardly seems worth the effort of us touring there, except it will give Shane Warne a chance to overtake the world record of test wickets if he can bowl well. We should win the series comfortably if it goes ahead.

It's good to see sports people retiring on their own terms and not having that decision made for them. The one thing I'll remember most about Nasser Hussain is his double hundred in the opening test of the 1997 Ashes Series against us.

Steve Waugh retired at his own timing (even though many would say he could read the writing on the wall).

I totally agree with you.

Twenty20 NEWS

Aussies v Poms in 20 overs
"ENGLAND and Australia are set to meet in a one-off Twenty20 match during next year's Ashes series.

Officials from Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board, who are currently negotiating about the itinerary for next summer's Ashes series, have agreed to experiment with the first ever 20-overs match between two international teams."

Finally this version of cricket is making its way to an international match, i am sure this will probably piss many off, while at the same time make many people happy. it should make for some exciting cricket, and sure to sell-out.

I'm back for another edition (who cares!)

ALL OUT
7.16.04

-Ireland Shamrocks the Dutch
they needed just 54 overs on the third day at wrap up avictory over Holland, in their opening fixture of the ICC Intercontinental Cup. Pakistani-born Naseer "Aiden Collins" Shaukat was the star of the match.. for Ireland. Yeah, I am confused too.

-ProCricket to the Dish
procricket games will be broadcasted on the DISH via PPV, (approx.) $100 for the season, $10 a game, and a financially acceptable $20 for the final (insert wise-crack face). I say congrats to the league, yet another good step in the right direction, now just get those freakin article links working guys. Btw, there message board is up and running.

-100’s for everyone, well at least NY’s Samuels and DC’s Nadeem Younis. The NY 6er was the first player in ProCricket history to get a century and DC Forward’s Younis became the second to do it today.

-Today we also saw another new rule used in ProCricket, overtime. Each team was allowed to bowl just one over. Before I get to that, if you wanted a exciting game, today’s NY-DC clash provided it. DC batted first and got a respectable 184, and NY tied the match getting a 4 on the last ball. Fast ‘Forward’ (pun intended), DC batted first in OT getting 7 runs, with NY then passing the mark with two balls to spare. Who batted the winning runs? Mr. Century Man himself, Marlon Samuels.

-Asian Cup just got under way, and after we get through the first round, who will we see in the finals? I say India vs Sri Lanka. Now I know I will get an email box full of angry Hong Kong fans, but sorry guys, I just don’t see it happening.

-USA beat non-North American cricket powerhouse Bermuda. Only outright win will give them any chance of advancing to the semi-finals in Dubai. It’s a surprise USA won, especially with a guy like this bowling for the Bermuda team- this so happens to be the pic of the week too
http://usa.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/PICTURES/DB/072004/053515.jpg

-Twenty20 Cup update- ITS POPULAR. Its only a matter of time it seriously challenges the current ODI format of 50 overs for being the more popular single day game. England vs Australia at Lords in January is the first of what I see as many (and very successful) Twenty20 Internationals.

-The AP reports police have opened a criminal case against legendary Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar, accusing him and other named directors of a shoe company of cheating thousands of shareholders.

-the NJ-Florida game scheduled to be played on July 23 in Florida had been moved to NJ’s Riverfront Stadium. Rumor has it the people of Florida as a whole are soo annoyed about being snubbed as a host city for WC 2007, they are refusing to allow cricket to be played there... All Out!

What, are the Asia Cup matches rigged or something? I mean, there have been 3 matches so far which have been won by 116 runs. What are the chance of this exact scenario happening?

India make easy work of Bangladesh as expected,

while Srilanka thrash Pakistan. (I'm surprised about the one-sidedness of this result).

Sri Lanka holds the best record in the tournament so far.

three straight results of 116 is pretty weird. btw, Sri Lanka are playing pretty good of late, they were my favorites going into the tourny.

ALL OUT!
7.22.04

-Thunder prevents DC from going Forward!
on 7.16 Florida dismantled DC by beating them by 7 wickets Florida(3 for 89 in 15.4 ov)DC 88 (all out in 13ov). nothing really notable here, and no reports from the match. would love to know how the crowd was.

-CHI-Town downs Texas
the tornadoes beat the arrow heads. ok, i will admit it, i am confused. i go to the procricket website, click on scores. so first i want to read the game analysis and the link doesn't work. so then i click on scorecard and it says chicago won, but under their batting they have 157 runs and texas has 158? so who really won. and while i am at it, seriously, Arrow Heads is a lame name. While also looking at the confusing scorecard, i see Marlon Samuels fresh off his century for the NY 6er's, is now lending his efforts to chicago. or is it texas? well, Super-Samuels slammed another century, grabbing 108 off of 41 balls.

-Let Freedom Ring- LA unable to 'unite', fall to SanFran
was the game exciting? was it down to the last bowl? was there standing room only? was the beer not over-priced and served at a perfect chill? who knows!!! but with SanFran having a guys last named "Chee Quee" (i will pronuouce it cheeky), it must have been a great time for everyone. he also happened to have had a cheeky of a game (that doesn't even make sense), 61 runs, which included 5 sixeroos and 2 bounderies.

-this thought just in; since players play for numerous teams, is a all-star game neccessary? isn't every game almost an all-star game? for guys like colin miller, which team is he going to represent?

-BigCricket.com coming soon. (ohhhhh, what can it be????) actually its a site where i will list all my "All Out" columns, and have a few other features. one thing i am working on is having a "heard on the boards" section. it will list a few posts from various cricket message boards on the web, with the idea of letting people getting to hear opinions from other places that they did not know of. what do you guys think?

-With florida's upcoming home games moved to Riverfront stadium in NJ, it possibly gives me a chance to catch the NY-Flor game next month if it gets switched to NY. would anyone be interested in following a live bowl-by-bowl updater of the game (thats if
1. i ask Procricket for permission, and
2. if they say yes, do i really want to to do it)?

-Asia Cup. conspiracy theorist will be all over this one- the first three matches of the cup all resulted in wins by 116 runs! welcome to crazy world kids! Sri Lanka is on a warpath btw, beating india and Pakistan which currently has them alone in first place.

-USA squad announced for the ICC Champions Trophy. There seems to be a big stink about Amjad Khan, an all rounder from NY, being released. Apparently he was released at the last moment by the selector for no reason (according to USCricket)

-Cricket on TV... For a price that is
Direct TV will be showing lots of cricket in the upcoming months. ProCricket reached a deal to have their matches shown, it will show the Triangular Series between Australia/Pak/India in Holland, and showing the ICC Champions trophy in September.

-And that reminds me of the most important thing to say for this week’s column... oops iam all out!

extra ball- don't type in procricket.com without the "www.", it won't work. i have no idea why. and i have no idea why i am telling everyone this.

Extra ball two-- dates I’d love to be off from work 9.10.04 USA vs NZ, 9.13.04 USA vs Australia and what ever date the final is.

Heard on the Boards-
-Gotta give props to Chandu, he first pointed out the conspiracy here
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99992&page=2

-‘Beige’ brings up some good/valid points on ProCricket
"Pro Cricket USA is truly a great event in the history of cricket, but I fear that the opportunity for cricket to grow in the USA may be forever damaged unless there is more professionalism demonstrated on the part of Pro Cricket administrators… Also, the team names are HORRIBLE. Most of them appear to be ripped off from Major League Soccer and the ones that aren't are just plain retarded. What the heck is a "Forward"???"
really good stuff there, read the whole thing here
