Anything you want to know about Aussie Rules, I will try my best to answer. I am here to help. :)

And oh yeah... GO CATS!! Geelong into the preseason competition final, with a narrow one-point win over Melbourne at Telstra Dome last night.

Some news links...

Question about the season ahead...

Now that the AFL season is upon us, and starting this weekend, can we discuss singular games as individual threads-- eg., "Geelong v St Kilda, Rd 1 {R}"-- or would we have to nominate threads that say "AFL Round 1 {R}"?

I might actually be at that Geelong v St Kilda match at Telstra Dome in Melbourne this coming Saturday night, as the Cats look to gain revenge for their Wizard Cup grand final defeat against the Saints.

An AFL Round 1 [R] type thread seems reasonable. Or even a single thread for the entire thread (similar to the Super 12 or Rugby World Cup threads) would do. There just isn't enough traffic here like bigfooty.com to justify individual threads for specific matches.

Then that's what I shall start, in this forum.

However, a strong concentration on my contributions will be on the St. Kilda v Geelong match... just a warning to the masses. ;)

That is a great trivia question... I'm sure one of our more advanced Google-ists will know the answer, or at least how to arrive at it.

I think even that would be a tough find... its a 100 years ago...

Well I was actually looking through some of my cricket books last night at home and thought it was going to be pre-Bradman era. I'll take a guess and say Hon. F.S. Jackson?

The only one I can think of is JWHT Douglas.

He won a boxing gold medal at the 1908 Olympics (on a points decision over the Aussie Snowy Baker - the referee was Douglas' father).

He wouldn't have captained England in boxing though, because that's an individual sport.

I know - but he could have been captain of the Olympic team

(also given that he was an all-round sportsman there was a chance he played something else as well)
