The first and so far only Mexican coach to have one a Copa Sudamericana title. The man is a genius and CF Pachuca living legend!
This thread is to discuss his tactics, strategies, formations and general news about him and his managerial staff.

what makes him special is he stresses ball possession, if u win a game but get the crap kicked out of u, its not fun and doesnt feel like a win. so regardless of if we win or lose we always look good under meza. He is about ball ball ball ball possession which is why we win most of our games, def my fav manager in football, i know we lose alot of games and have 70 percent possession in those games, he makes us look good regardless.

Usando las famosas palabras de Justino Compean...
El no hace la convocatoria...el no hace los goles.

'Ojitos' Meza has left the club!
“Había un acuerdo de que al finalizar el último partido del torneo íbamos a juntarnos a platicar acerca de su continuidad. El día de ayer cumplió su contrato y hoy después de una reunión el Profe nos comunicó que se va de la institución”, dijo Fassi.
Ya en la Fundación de Pachuca, se ofreció una conferencia de prensa en la que Meza se despidió de los medios de comunicación y en la que lloró ante las cámaras.

I'm saddened by this news as I think he still had a lot to give.
May things go well for him where ever he may go next.

i hate to say it but its time for him to go, hes a great coach and hes going to win alot, but we need a change, our international power is falling and we lost the title despite finishing first, thats a first, so i think a change could spice stuff up, hopefuly caballero and calero come back next year

I hate to see him leave. The players had a very close bond with the team and the only Mexican coach to win a South American tourny.
Will this news cause other players to leave the club as well?

Not to minimize what Pachuca did but winning the Interamericana against the Copa Libertadores champion (and World Champion like Pumas vs Nacional in 1981) has a lot more merit.
This guy gets way too much credit. Like Justino Compean says...
Yo no hago las convocatorias...yo no meto los goles.

Are you serious?
The old Interamericana cup is little more than a friendly series which has no importance. I'm not saying Sudamericana is the grand thing but it certainly beats the hell out of Copa Interamericana.
As for Meza getting too much credit, I think we'll see now that Rivarola is in charge if he got too much credit or not, won't we.
By the way congratulations for the nice win last night!

Beating the US...meh...no big deal. What was supposed to happen, happen. That's it. We exposed a lot of their weaknesses last night and I can sincerily say we are a better team than they are. There was simply too much of a difference between us for the win to just be attributed to home advantage.
And it also confirms what I had always suspected as to why Mexico doesn't beat the US in the US: Mexico plays far too direct. You guys need to get back to your football. It's amazing how a little bit of speed kills those guys.
But as far as Meza goes, you'll see I am right...when Cruz Azul end up dead last in the table or anywhere in that vicinity. Not even Guardiola can save that team.

I know a 'Tico' victory against the US was to be expected but what surprised me was the fact that you guys pretty much trashed them, at least from the highlights I saw it appeared that way. Had it not been for that penalty it would've probably been a 3-0 thrashing.

I don't think it's a first, the "superlider" usually does not win it all. I'm not a Pachuca fan but I admire them for what they have achieved, which is incredible for a club of their size. And the fact that Meza stayed when most other team's coaching gigs were like a revolving door and few coaches were given continuity also makes me respect the team. Best wishes in the future Meza and Pachuca.
