A friendly versus Wales would be great just before the WCQ.

Will the game be at Sea World? If it's a home game for Whales, it would be! :D

It'll probably end up the same way as the Rugby Matches between the two sides, i.e. an easy win for Wales. :(

Hold on. I expressed my dissappointment at that reality through the 'sad' smiley.

How about we keep this civil. The more people who post in the Canadian forum the better.

I highly doubt it. Wales doesn't have any depth. Last summer a US "national" team made up of players from a mere 2 MLS sides throughly out played a Wales team made up of premiership and 1st division players. If Canada has it's top 11 players it should be a good game. Canada doesn't have anyone on par with Giggs, but he's just one player.

That US team would have outplayed Canada as well.

I must agree with the above statement.

If we can beat Wales 26-23 in Cardiff in 1993 in rugby we sure as hell can beat them in soccer in Wrexham. We just need to call up Gareth Rees to take our free kicks.

Seriously I expect we'd lose to Wales, but it's part of a process building towards 06. This would be a good game and good prep.

The match is now official

"International football will return to Wrexham after a five-year break when Wales play Canada at the end of May."

Well, it depends on which Canadian team we are talking about. If its another collection of high-school kids & 3rd string vets (like last time) then I'd also agree. But if we're talking a real Canadian team, then that would be a different story.

Wales will be favoured, especially since they are likely to field a top squad at home, rather than the one they sent to play in the US. But assuming that Canada does the same (a safe assumption given that it could be our last major friendly before qualifying) we should have the talent to give them a challenge. Of course, as this could be Frank Yallop's first proper match with the A squad, its difficult to say whether the team will play to its potential or continue to underachieve as we have done recently. We don't even know for sure what Yallop's "A" squad will look like. There's no way of knowing for sure until we actually start playing some games.

Did you see the team the US put up against Wales in San Jose? If Wales dresses a lineup of comparable strength to that which lost to that group 2-0, we'll hand them their shirts with our full team.

US: Nick Rimando; Ryan Suarez, CJ Brown, Jeff Agoos, Richard Mulrooney; Greg Vanney, Earnie Stewart, Bobby Convey, Eddie Lewis; Jovan Kirovski and Landon Donovan.

They also used Manny Lagos, Mike Petke, Brian Ching and Elecko Eskadarian.

I like Mulrooney and Suarez is a decent young prospect, but a clean sheet with Brown and Agoos. Ouch. Midfield was decent and Kirovski has his moments, but let's be real, that's a not even an MLS all-star team, never mind a national team. Will Lagos, Brown or Eskadarian even be MLS starters this year?

If the Welsh bring everyone we could be in trouble, if they try to experiment we could have a win.

Sorry to rain on your pessimism Krammer.

Overheard on the Welsh supporters message board: "Will there be a moment of silence before kick off..... in memory of Owen Hargreaves' defection to the dark side" :)

cheers,

You can PM me until the cows come home but if some Welshman or other comes on here and says the Welsh are going to beat us badly, I'm going to tell them to *** off, in the truest sense of the word - i.e., go somewhere else. If you've got a problem with that, ban me from this forum.
