I knew we had cheese, but I had no idea we were that close to Man U. Once the stadium is built, the gap will get smaller.....and smaller.....and smaller.....

And finally we're starting to perform like it.

I completely agree. Arsenal will be in the top 3 or 4 once The Grove is built and packed! IF and this is HUGE if we were to pull off the Treble this season; that would bring tons of new fans and exposure to Arsenal, where Manchester Utd and Liverpool have dominated the market throughout the world in the past.

Arsenal has one HUGE advantage over Man. Ure or Liverpool--they play in one of the greatest, most cosmopolitan cities in world--not in the sticks, provinces, and other drab, useless and out-of-the-way places nobody (except, of course, for the people who happen to live there) cares about!!
I have both relatives and friends in London, so I'm hopefully going to check it out later this year. One of them said, "it's like New York, but better and more worldly".

It is nice to have my favorite team in London (not that that's why I chose to root for them, it's just a coincidental benefit). I can catch a direct flight there from Phoenix, whereas I can't do the same for places like Liverpool or Manchester. Plus London is just such a great destination even apart from Arsenal football. I'd be less likely to make trips to see football matches in a locale that wasn't as attractive a destination as London. I'm sure I'm not alone in these sentiments.
This whole new stadium thing makes you wonder how close Arsenal will draw to ManU on revenues once Ashburton Grove is built. I'd assume ManU would still have a sizable edge.

Sounds like my description of Houston: "It's like Hell, but more humid"

If the new stadium is projected to hold 60,000, it'll probably bring in more revenue than Old Trafford would for Man.Ure, even though the latter's grounds would still be bigger:
1. Being a newer stadium, probably has many more luxury boxes.
2. Seats are probably more expensive, given that it's London--from what I understand, London clubs have the highest prices in the Premiership, while a side like Man.Ure offers cheaper seats. Reason? Higher cost of living, no doubt.

I wish people would quite talking about the treble, every year about 10 clubs think they have a chance, it is totally unrealistic. Its only been done 4 times ever, EVER. For goodness shakes, REAL MADRID have never won it, Bayern have never won it, No Italian club has ever won it. It is a fluke if you win, pure and simple, a fluke.
It requires more luck than skill.

Quick correction - you have the 7th highest revenue. If you'll notice, Leeds is on that list. I don't think they're actually the 16th richest club in the world.

True--richness should not be equated with revenue and vice-versa.

But it does give insight to just how over their heads Leeds got. With those kind of revenues, they should never be having the insolvency problems they are encountering now. Poor management for sure. Good points.

London is, by far, my favorite city in the world. Very interesting history, great people (I'm bias, part English here), things to do incredible museums...and tons of great beer....LOL! I love that you can go to different pubs on the same street and have lots of variety of beers (not just Guinness)...not like here in the US...Bud + Bud Light OR MGD + Miller Lite!

Yeah, hold on a second here, people are slightly confused.
This isn't where Arsenal is at in terms of assets and what not, it's simply how much money they turned over last year. In fact, until Arsenal gets this thing built, they'll be far from one of the richest clubs... they're pouring all their extra cash into it.

And, to drive the point home that this is a revenue list only, The Telegraph is reporting that Arsenal has reported a half year LOSS of 9.9 million pounds through half of their fiscal year, ending 11/30/03.
Football income actually rose 2 million pounds during that period, but higher wages and flat ticket revenues (limited by Highbury's size) caused a loss.
And to think some thought Ashburton Grove was an extravagance....
