From today's L'Equipe (en francaise)

He can to hell as far as I'm concerned. I will say this would be one of the few teams where he'd be on good behavior because of those around him. They'd crack him upside the head if he pulled any of his stunts.

Some players of NT squad really appreciate him (Viera, Zidane, Thuram) i think Santini should do something....
Why not a Henry, Trezeguet,Saha, Anelka for EURO 2004? Quite impressive isn't it ?

what about a Henry, Trezeguet,Saha, Cisse even more impressive isn't it?
But because of that stupid ref it won't be possible.
Anyway, even though Anelka is a decent player I don't think he should be in the team, how many time did he say "I don't care about FNT"?
You have to show some respect to be part of a team.

Anelka,

Qu'il aille se faire foutre.

Simple as that.
That's what you deserve when you spit on your national jersey.

Remember that Cisse is under suspension from UEFA competitions for five matches, I think it's five, so he's not getting the call up this summer.
Sydney Govou is ahead of Saha not to mention a few others. In essence your key attackers are:

Henry, Trezeguet, Pires and possibly Wiltord (if he can get more time with Arsenal), so other strikers will be there as insurance and I see Sydney Govou getting one of those spots, so the search is on for one striker in my opinion.

I don't see Anelka getting the call up. Thuram and Viera are doing what friends should do. Heck, it may even be beyond Santini's power. It's not like the FFF is happy with him. We're talking the same group that banned Cantona from French soccer and he was more a team player than Niko ever will be.

First , he didn't say he wouldn't play for the FNT.He just wanted to be considered more than a fill in.

Second, he is not the first one who disagree with a national coach and let everyone knows about it.Cantona? Kopa? Does that ring a bell????

Third, he always kept a low profile, had good relationships with players while playing for the FNT and was effective.

Now, knowing Santini, even with some publics excuses, I don't think Anelka will play in the Euro. It's too late for him.He should have done something 6 months ago.

He is a good player, arrogant maybe, ill adviced probably, bad communicator sure but he doesn't disturb the chemistry of the team, veterans want him back because they know he can help them achieve their goal which is keep the trophy at home.

Now it's up to the coach to see if
1) Anelka can help the french team win more than Govou, Saha, Marlet or Lyundula
2) He can put his differences aside and let Anelka come back

Cantona called Henri Michel " un sac a merde " which is worse than a dirt bag, he also said that he would not play for the FNT until the coach be removed.
That's the reason why he got banned until the new coach, Michel Platini took over.

The president of the FFF wants Anelka back, and he is giving some hints to Santini.Different poeple, different time.

On the FNT, Anelka was a team player. This is one of the reason players want him back
He is becoming more so at the club level under the guidance of Kevin Keegan.

But I agree with you that he is not going to be called up

some stats on the possible 3rd forward. (includes games of league+europe+FNT)
Player |Goals|Game|Ratio
Anelka 86 273 0.31
Frau 61 168 0.36
Govou 34 149 0.23
Luyinduya 58 213 0.27
Marlet 108 394 0.27
Saha 64 183 0.35
Wiltord 137 443 0.31

I put wiltord on the list even though he usually play as an attacking midfield with France.
The one with the highest ratio is Frau... Will he have a chance to prove his value with the FNT??

Though PAF has the highest ratio, it doesn't seem that he is on Santini's radar. I don't remember him being called up lately. Marlet, though i don't hold him in the highest regard, is chummy with Santini and will get the call up as third striker. I can see Govou or the red hot Saha filling out the striking roster.

Actually, I think Frau will get a call up soon. I've had this vibe for awhile. I think he's on Santini's radar for this summer. Man, what a problem to have (shakes head at the amount of talent on this French team).
