I think the best tricks come from those with an quick change of pace. Take Ronaldinho for example. Who saw the wonder goal against Ac Milan at the Nou Camp in this years champions league?! The way he shift-stabs the ball with his right foot into space created a clear view of goal and of course - he didn't waste his opportunity! Sticking with Ronaldinho on this one, the inside/outside drag - for those quizzed by my interpretation, its the one he does at the end of the Nike advert where Brazil play Portugal. Not to mention the disguise pass. Ingenious! Most known for Ronaldinho again but actually created by Anders Svenson of Southampton. And by the way, don't challenge me on that one, i was there!

Here's my all time favorite move...but it's really hard to describe so bear with me...
Roll-over with the right foot, while the ball is moving, turn your left shoulder towards the defender and bring your left foot over the ball (it should be going through your legs). Now, quickyly turn to your left and stop the ball with your right foot, then do a Maradonna (take the ball with your right foot, turn in mid-air and take it again with your left) But instead of letting it roll to the inside of your left foot, roll it through your legs with some speed on it. It should go through the defender's legs...in style :D. You just gotta get the right distance between you and the defender.
Another one I love to do is fake like your'e going to pass with your right (or left) foot and hit it with the inside of your heel. Then turn your toe in to stop the ball. Very convincing move. The same can be done with the outside of the heel, but it is much harder.
dude, can you get a clip of what you mean? i'm kinda confused!!!
borrow a digital cam or something.
i wanna inspect it for my own personal use on the pitch.

My Favorite move.... is the nutmeg. Folowed by passing the ball to one side of the defender and the running around him on the other side and beating him with the sprint to the ball. Look Out! Breakaway! :) If you consider the Goalie a defender then another good move is when the ball crosses the line below the crossbar and between the posts. Although my all time favorite move, even though it is not used on the defence, is the OFFSIDES TRAP. I love the player's face when the referee catches them. (But you better be able to sprint if one of your outside defenders lags a bit.:))

double stepover by far is thebest
roll it with your right foot, then stepover with right then with left and cut it with the outside of your right foot. its so awesome, it makes you smile whe you get the defender dancing and swaying right to left.
it really depends on the situation tho, you cant pull stepovers all the time, you cant pull maradonnas all the time, you cant pull flicks all the time, and cutting the ball doesnt work everytime. If your a skilled player you should be able to do them all. Once a defender learns of your cuts, then switch it up, start doing some stepovers, do different moves and keep your defender guessing

The best by far is the Elastico when it comes our right. I also like the tap with the inside, explode with the outside move (Mathew's?).

Always let the defender decide for you. There's no point going towards a defender thinking 'right, this trick looks cool, I think I'll do this one' as you're probably going to be tackled right off the pitch. Look where the defender is and his position - for example if he is ahead of you and to the right, fake to your right with a stepover or something to put him off balance and then accelerate forward into the space to your left - there is already a gap to your left so widen it by sending the defencer further to your right.
I find the most effective way to beat a player is to simply show him the ball and then nick it just off his toes as he comes into the tackle. This takes good close control (and a relaxed foot to prevent the ball travelling too far ahead), but in this way the player has already committed himself and is effectively out of the game. Using stepovers and other skills is okay in some situations, but most of the time this simply slows down the speed of your run and you lose the edge.

Just whatever will work to get the ball past the defender in whatever situtation im faced with. If i get the chance to do what i want though. I love to stand side of the defender. Drag the ball back with the sole of my boot and clip it through the defenders legs with my heal and go and get it around the other side and get ready to skin the next defender!! :D

Lol i agree
Anyway usually i'm sapposedly the fastest striker in my league, which i'm sad to say is sad for the league... But early in the game i just use the pure speed. At the 40 min hump (25-65) i use the pace change (run at him with one pace, then a quick change of direction and pace), then for the final 30 mins, i use my fav. A right leg stepover, and a left foot nutmeg/drag depending on the defenders stance. It sounds really simple but its almost impossible to defend, if the don't move for the stepover you can just sprint on the right foot, if they do you have about 3 or 4 yards before the can turn!!! Devilish!

with my back to the defender, i get the ball in the air a little and back heal it past him as i turn around his other side, other than that just a flick with the outside of the foot a la preki, except I could do it with either foot, you gotta sell it with your fascial expression, be an actor

hey ur from ontario lol im from hamilton..a little of topic but..i went to england for my rep team..and the scouts from the man utd B team or whatever talked to my parents about me going to the youth academy. I wanted to go sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad but my parents said no because they didnt want to move to england..but the good part is they have a year for me to convince them..anyways what i like to do when im 1v1 with a defender is the rainbow but like not over my head, only about over my hip then I am basically right infront of the guy.. it bounces once then i bounce it through the defenders legs and run past him , control and do whatever....my other favs....eslastico, double stepover but in my secret way...after i do the stepovers i go to one side...but i kinda lift the ball over the defenders legs if hes aware of what im doing ;) its almost certain to get u past him or make him draw a foul.

I didnt play this year at all. (a pity because my team won the state championship) But last year one of my favorites went like this
Whenever there was a loose ball, I would run really fast towards the ball, put my left foot to the right side of the ball, and then with my right foot I would just flick it forward, its kind of hard to explain since I dont think there is a technical name for this trick.

Gotta agree with you here, keep it simple and effective is the best thing.
It is amazing how often a simple change of pace with an inside outside cut will tie up a defender and create enough space to either beat him straight on, or create a shot or pass.
KISS all the way.
Keep
It
Simple
Stupid
Although the highlight moves are pretty sweet when you seem work.

not sure how to explain, but i like to either do
1. move ball to left, scissor left foot, stepover right foot, then take it right.
2.just do rolls and stepovers.(too slow for game speed usually)
3. just dribble right by them

1. Pass to a middie
2. Step on it and pass to a defender
3. Long ball to a striker
4. Push to the right and shoulder charge.
