(note: This does not relate directly to Cleveland MLS expansion. After deliberate thought, I presumed that this was still the most apt place to post this.)


For those of you who didn't know (including myself a week ago) there is this website that appeals to the soccer traveller. I was perusing the site when I noticed that there was no mention of Cleveland. I am typing up an entry for us mentioning the Force and the PDL/W-League teams that we have in Parma starting this year. Mentioning inclusion into MLS seems presumptious at this moment.

What I am looking for is:

1. Soccer-friendly bars/ restaurants. I know of Parnells. Last year someone mentioned a bar in Strongsville. Does anyone know the name of that bar or want to name any others?

2. Cleveland soccer history, indoor and outdoor.

3. Pick up games in the area.

4. Anything else worth mentioning.

No one can name one soccer-oriented bar other than Parnells in Cleveland. I thought we were ethnic town USA?

Pick up games can be found in and around Case and the University Circle area. Through the years they've been moved around due to construction. During the spring and summer there are games on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Finnegan Field at 6 and Saturday mornings around 10. I think that Finnegan may be undergoing renovations soon, so the location may be moving again.

Are those pick up games at Case still going on or have they been postponed due to freakish weather (like todays) I knew about that one, I am looking for any others. (I must have seen you there some time, I was there for a good part of the summer. )

This might be another good project to try to start again, since Cleveland is hosting US vs Venezuela.

I am on it. Personal recommendations are welcome but I feel I can get the bar scene down well enough.
