What do you mean by 'current'? An 11 composed of current Premiership players or an 11 composed of the Premiership players currently playing the best football?

Either way, the fact that we are three selections in without mention of the words 'Steven' and 'Gerrard' does not bode well for this thread.

Man, something about teaming up Van Nistelrooij and Henry is almost scary. The roles they play compliment each other so well. Talk about a defence's worst nightmare.

Are people on here going mental?

5 out of 7 people here believe that Shaun Wright-Phillips is the best right sided midfielder in the country?

Jesus Christ we are scraping the barrel. He is not even close to the England squad.

Anyway

--------Cudicini
Carr Campbell Gallas O'Shea
Pires Keane Scholes Giggs
---Henry Van Nistelrooy

Not just on this season (or Carr would be nowhere near it), and I've excluded Ferdinand.

Yeah, Wright-Phillips is a ridiculous choice. A few good matches, but when he's turned in a few match-winning performances then we'll see.

Cudicini
Delaney-Campbell-Silvestre-Cole
Pires-Gerrrard-Vieira-Duff
Henry-Van Nistelrooy

you are slagging the choice of phillips? remember you are picking at team that would go out and win a game not just to look good on paper! giggs? o'shea? hahahaha

You want to talk about winning games. I would love to see the stats, but i would doubt anyone has won more games in the Premiership than Giggs. So he and Man U are not on peak form at the moment, form is temporary class is permanent. Wright-Phillips will never be of the class of Ryan Giggs.

It is the people that even knock Giggs who are joking, like last season for instance Giggs came back from all the stick to finish with 8 goals and 14 assists in the league.

good form for a young player is what builds you up to being labeled as 'class'. giggs wasnt labeled class from day one he also had to earn it, but he played in a team with superstars around him and a super manager. im not saying that phillips will ever be as good as giggs but untill phillips has his chance at the big time like giggs started with and fails i dont think you should doubt him.

You keep going on about these stats, but you only pick the stats which suit your claims. Assists and gaols are what Henry does, so you repeatedly go on about them. They don't show the other elements a player gives to a team, such as holding the ball up, making runs which create space, knock downs or the vast number of other facets of forward play.

The game is not played on paper.

you confuse me alot lol. you go on about stats being the key to everything when you want but when some1 proves you wrong with them you say that they dont matter. how about next time you post a replay in a thread you try not to start an arguement and respect peoples opinions rather than slagging them off.

giggs was a wonderful player in his day but he is on the decline due to age, sorry mate but it happens to every great player.

Giggs was class from the day he started his top flight career, that is why he was Wales youngest ever international at 17 years old. That is why he was labelled the new George Best and has lived up to his hype.

Giggs is in a class that Wright-Phillips can never dream of, the world-beater class. Giggs has been the best left winger in the world for more than 10 years, Wright-Phillips is not even the best midfielder at Man City. You earn your chance at the big time it isn't handed to you.

I respect other people's opinions but add my own, that is what is called a debate. The original poster asked to be beaten and I responded, life would be boring if we all agreed on every point.

well at least we agree on something as yes i know it would be boring if we all agreed on every point.
and yes i know what a debate is.
your attitude lets your comments down i think, which is a shame cause you do speak alot of sence and clearly know your football. it seems like you look down on what other people think by saying things like.....

im not trying to dispute the fact that giggs WAS a great player, one of the all time greatest players who have played in the premiership, but dont you think comparing him to best is a bit far fetched? i mean best is ranked up there with pele and maradona.

p.s i picked the team that i thought would win a game if they actully played 2gether, thats why i didnt pick ruud or duff or keane.

The reason I put it so strongly is because I was amzed that 5 out of 7 people picked him. It would be like me picking Anthony Gardner, he has had a good season but there are far better players out there.

I don't think comparing Giggs to Best is far fetched. In the poll of United's best player ever Best came second, Giggs came third. Giggs is the most decorated player in the history of Man Utd and in all probability will be the most decorated in the history of english football. People forget quite how good he has been.

Surely this thread should be 'Best Premiership team based on form this season'. If so then if people believe Wright-Phillips has looked a better player than Giggs, then so be it. My team doesn't contain either though.
