I think that the best Keeper in the Premiership is Antti Niemi, what do you all think?

In premiership form solely in this season I'd say Dean Kiely just ahead of Maik Taylor.
But in general I'd agree with you on Niemi, ahead of Shay Given. Cudicini is the most impressive on his better howler-free days though.

Vandersaar, Cudicini (not an appreciated talent unfortunately) and Timmy..

Read my lips, TIM HOWARD. The guy has single handedly won a bunch of games for Man U, even when Rio was in the defence. His performance is probably not appreciated because of the number of high profile players that is in the team, but you must admit, he has more than exceeded expectation.

Brad Friedel or Kasey Keller.

This is a hard one this season. Niemi and Friedel shone last season, but for me Tim Howard has proved the best and most consistent keeper. He has had a great first season in the Premiership but could still win nothing !!

Kirkland has let in a lot less goals than all the other names in here... ;)

He has let less goals in because he's played in far less amount of games. He is very injury prone, and this has affected his Liverpool career quite severely so far.

I also think Van der Sar has been very impressive. He doesnt get as much credit as he deserves, considering the team he plays for isnt nearly as stong as say, Man U. Although, I think a strong argument could be made for Howard. He has been amazing this year, and he had very little experience coming into this season. Outstanding performance for a premiership rookie. If you're talking the most athletic and acrobatic, credit has to go to Howard, he has consistently made saves that are unbelievable.

There is no such a thing called the best goal keeper, every keeper experiencing ups and down during league season, keeper who has good defenders infront of him looks great, and luck is also the main factor

Lets look at least goals against, Jens Lehman has the best. But I still think any American (Howard, Fridel, or Keller) are the best in the league. I also think that Cudicini on his day is up there.

All keepers are fallible. Keller has had a disastrous season and it is not entirely down to the fact that he has four complete mugboats stood in front of him every week. Friedel is also nowhere near as effective this time out as he was last year. Cudicini has been injured a fair bit this time around but was probably a dead heat with Friedel last seson.
Howard has been very impressive, although by no means flawless. Especially in recent weeks his positioning and approach to crosses has come under the spotlight.

Cudicini's problem is that he has a couple of BIG howlers every year. This year it was, unfortunately, in the Arsenal game. Howewer, the difference between him and Sullivan, who was a starting Premiership keeper for a while, is enormous.
On his day, Cudicini is as good as anyone in the premiership. Unfortunately, he has offdays. I'd still put him in the top 5, at least. I think he's been better than all 3 American keepers this year, actually, because his reading of the game is usually excellent.

Tim Howard, first year in the EPL and is doing super well. He deserves it because all the other keepers have previous experince in top flight leagues, and for a keeper who nobody knew who he is and do so well for a team such as MU.

By the way i've also noticed that although Peter Enckleman made many well publicised mistakes last year, he has really worked on that area this year, I don't think he has made one in a game all this season. [/subtle]*WINK*[subtle]

While it's good that he's done so well in his first year, it doesn't really make a difference in this discussion. He could go from an U-17 team to being the second best keeper in the premiership, and you know what that would make him? The second best keeper in the prem. The question is "who is the best"? And the fact that he plays for Man U(a team that I love) only works against him in this situation. He's playing for a team that can afford to put a world class defence in front of him. That said, I'd put him in my top 5. This year, I'd have to go with Van Der Saar as the best.
