Gordon Strachan has emerged as a candidate for the manager's job at Tottenham. Apparently a 'close friend' of wee Gordo revealed that the former Southampton boss has been offered the post. Strachan was recently forced to quit the Saints after revealing that he intended to step down as manager at the end of the season, to take a year out of the game as a promise to his family to take a break. Initially he wanted to return, but was told by chairman Rupert Lowe that that was impossible.
Deano says: I can't see this happening. What does everybody else think ? Would Spurs fans be happy with him at the helm ?

decent idea, but what with Strachan resigning because of speculation over his job because he announced he was leaving at the end of the season for non-footballing reasons i don't see him being appointed Spurs boss next season to be honest. If he were, that'd be pretty crazy, if he went to Spurs, Hoddle back to Southampton again from Spurs, it'd be interesting to see Saints fans reactions to that personally.

Fat chance, this is just the Sun throwing out another name for the sake of it. I'd heard there was something dubious going on, where the Sun journalists were in league with a bookies, throwing out names every month or so to encourage bets.

Zero chance of that happening, although Spurs could do alot worse than Strachan, the Spurs job would come to soon for 'Strac' because he is adiment that he will take a year out(at least) to fix his dodgy hip and spend time with the family.
I'd be very surprised if Trappatoni wasnt manager by the start of next season!

They're building it up, but with all these big name managers it's like Spurs a few years ago with players and they were linked with Morientes and Shevchenko and so on, then they revealed they almost signed Morientes or they almost signed Rivaldo. I think is the same thing happenning here. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like the Norwich manager should they fail to come up or Redknapp if Pompey go down.

I'd take Robbie Keane and Jermaine Defoe over an overrated goal hanger in Morientes and old man Rivaldo. Postiga proved that the club could sign one of the brightest young talents in Europe for big money without breaking the bank.
As for managers Spurs have always been able to have their first choice. Took George Graham away from your precious Leeds without a backward glance, and did the same to Hoddle at Southampton. At worst Spurs will just put Curbishley in charge, but I expect them to get either Trappatoni or Mourinho. An underachieving but talented squad with a 15 million summer transfer budget will get the man they want without a doubt.
Will be sweet satisfaction when Spurs pay peanuts to take Robinson and Milner away from a relegated Leeds at the end of this season.

You can have Robinson but you ain't taking Milner. Also Leeds are staying up and Spurs will lose at Elland Road, consider it revenge for Terry Venables, actually if you went out of existence I'd start to accept it as revenge.

How will Spurs lose at Elland Road when they already won there (and at White Hart Lane) this season?
Leeds are going down like the Hammers :D

lol @ the Leeds fan. At least we will have a club come next season.
Is is just me or is anyone else sick to death now about the speculation ? We must have been linked to about 20 managers !
Should we remember that Strachan took Coventry down a few seasons ago. Sure he has done well at the Saints, but so did someone else I seem to recall ....

Well what about the speculation of all the consortiums going to buy us, there's one with an ex Bradford chairman, the Sheikh, the tycoon from Uganda or something, there's an ex-Huddersfield chairman in another group, and a group of Leeds business men. I'd say that's more frustrating than being linked with managers. Don't forget Leeds don't have a manager either, but nobody is speculating about it because they're too busy talking about Spurs' managers and Chelsea being linked with every player ever, I won't be surprised to read Chelsea have been linked with a move which will see Pele, Maradona, Cruyff (Johan), Baresi cloned and join the Chelsea roster for the next season.

That's a fair point, there has been a ridiculous amount of speculation this season about Leeds, Chelsea and Spurs. Most of which has been rubbish.
Lazy journalists in action.

I guess they need to sell their papers. I only take seriously news from the official spurs site. 95% of newspaper stories turn out to be complete bull.
I think Leeds have a shot at staying up. I wouldnt have given you a prayer a couple of weeks back. I wish we had a few players like Alan Smith
