Does 1860 take US credit cards? FC Köln does not, and that annoys me to no end. Its 2009 - take a credit card.

Damn. Even BVB takes US Credit Cards. And they seemingly do not trust foreigners.

But I can't talk them into doing a freakin' TV service!

BVB management really has no idea how popular they still are world-wide and that many fans would pay for quality downloads of the matches.

Credit, debit, etc. Works just fine. Sign up once, lasts one year, get a reminder in the summer to renew.

Especially since it is ALREADY done by Premiere!!! All they need to do is capture the feed, splice it and post it. Done.

Olde Towne Alexandria, three blocks Sud auf Koenigstrasse across from St. Mary's and the Old Presb. Meeting House.
If you own YOUR RICH!!! That's serious real estate there. Lived in DC a long time. Worked at Fish Market in college as a bartender. Brother lives up off of Taylor Run behind the Masonic Temple.

I play NVSL O-40 League (Sunday/Thursday-nine game schedule) and NOVA-CL on Saturdays (every weekend, year-round). We are playing at Wakefield Park (near Burke) this weekend. Turned the field to the artificial graas after elevating it. No more swamp. Most of the fields have been switched over by Fairfax County.
Which team? I played in the NVSL for 8 years with Old Dominion FC. We were premiere and first division mostly. Played some with Fairfax FC in the over 30 league....was fun. I swear, we probably played against each other. Did not know they had a CL...pretty cool.

What really sucks is my grandma owned 1,000 acres in Fairfax County back in 1927. She sold it, and now its where Dulles Airport sits (600 acres). Imagine the wealth I'd be sitting on if she kept it.

I'd own DC United.

Naw, the federal gov took the land that Dulles was built on. What they did not take they gave what they thought market value was...at the time it was not much. My wife's ancestral home (Sully Plantation) is not far from there. At the time, her dad was mayor of Fairfax and had just convinced (in 1967) the airport planning authority NOT to build Dulles in Burke (was originally proposed to go right where Wakefield Park is now) and to build it in Ashburn. Problem was they wanted Sully too. So, knwoing he could not fight them a second time and to save Sully, he simply got it added to the federal list of historic places.:D:D Smart dude by Father-in-Law.

I'd own DC United.
Sad that the most successful team in MLS cannot get its own stadium. They had their chance in 1998 to build in VA and they snubbed their noses at it. Oh well. Hey, they're kind of like 1860, only instead of being stuck in a $hit hole stadium that no one wants, 1860 is stuck in an overly expensive stadium they don't want. PErhaps they should just switch. Then 1860 could win MLS cup!!!

Nope, she sold it to Dulles, and the Dulles family donated most of the land. Current value was about $1 billion last I heard.

FiL was pretty shrewd.

It is pretty sad they can't get a stadium, might have to look at W Virginia next.

Wanna hear something weird/funny...I think one of the mods reset my "rep" count from like 200+ to 1.:D:rolleyes:

Must have been one of the Bayern mods.

The stadium issue is making to all of the mainstream football news sites. Apparently KHR insisted FCB has no interest in letting 1860 go until 2025 without recovering damages as a result.

And the plot thickens.

It may be a wider issue as my much much less than 200 total:) is now down to 1.

And unless they have cameras in my living room on the weekends, Bayern reps have no problems with me.;)

I would not either. It was a contract they signed. Complain all they want to but they have no recourse in the "i want to leave because its expensive" category unless you live in the US and get your mortgage bailed out by the feds. I stopped paying my mortgage last week too because I felt left out of the Obaman gravy train.;)

Seriously, the ONLY chit 1860 has to play is in the actual cost structure. It costs 1860 the EXACT SAME cost for their games where 22,000 people show up as it does Bayern when 60,000 people show up. So, as you can imagine, THAT is a huge issue. There are people getting paid for not working. Even Bayern would have to admit that is not right.

Let's dispel the RICH comment ASAP!

I rent a town home with my wife. Actually, the area is getting very affordable (by D.C. standards) We will buy eventually, just waiting for the market to drop a little further. We might end up in Del Ray or S of town off Rte. 1. I am a Recruiting Manager working multiple GSA and FEMA related projects and do some consulting / scouting work related to soccer. Nobody makes any real money in football domestically. Thus, I have a real job.

My wife works as the Director of Public Policy for a major non-profit healthcare foundation/organization. Spends lots of time on the hill and our place is centrally located for both of us. It's modest, but nice. Great place top raise our daughter. Close to everything.:)

Rumor and assumptions dispeled?

I play for the Mt. Vernon Soccer Club and LandWarriors FC O-40.

D.C. United is securing land through St. George's County in Maryland for the new venue. Has metro access and will help develop a area that needs it and still be safe enough for the general family crowd to feel comfortable.
State was throwing up some red flags. Those have been overcome and the bond issue should pass with none of the drama, politics and rudeness displayed by the D.C. city government.

BTW-AC Milan and Chelsea are playing in Baltimore at the Raven's staium Juy 26. must dee footy!

Cheers . . . Woody
