BTW if there are any Baseball/Red Sox fans out there, here is a little tidbit for those of you who don't know: Gregg is the cousin and Godson of Carl Yastremski.
Here are a few links that confirm (I checked to make sure I wasn't imagining things)

CC: Better overall Red Sox (http://www.redsox.com/) player: Carl Yastrzemski or Ted Williams?
GB: “That’s a tough one. I’m going to give the edge to Yaz because he’s my cousin and godfather. So yeah, I’ll give it to Yaz.”

The article above addresses some players "on the bubble" at Sechzig and whether kicker thinks they will stay or go.
I don't have time to fully translate, but I'll give what I think the be quick hits on each one.
Gregg Berhalter (35): As we know, Gregg agreed to dissolve his contract yesterday and is believed to be joining MLS' LA Galaxy. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet Gregg while he was with 1860.
Michael Hofmann (36): Kicker seems to think with his performance so far, he will be extended and kept on board. They think he will stay. I agree.
Danny Schwarz (33): Kicker says while there is strong competition at his position, he could be valuable as an experienced backup. They think he'll be sold if there is an offer, but they can see him staying too. They don't know what will happen with him. I agree there too.
Markus Thorandt (28): Kicker says his strong second half performance has put him back in the running to hang around. As I remember, he was a bit in Kurz's doghouse. Kicker likes that he can play multiple positions and is a fighter. They think he will stay. So do I.
Antonio Rukavina (25): Kicker says Sechzig really wants to keep him, but don't know what will happen. I will write here as a BVB fan. I can tell you guys that BVB would like nothing more than to not have Rukavina on the books for next season. However, with the club's current cash problems, they can't just afford to give him away either. I think Sechzig either needs to come up with a bit of money or ask BVB for another loan.
Then again, with the way Rukavina has been playing for Sechzig, I woudn't be surprised if someone else makes BVB a cash offer for him.......
Nicolas Ledgerwood (24): Kicker starts by saying he hasn't made the jump to being a regular. I think Kicker is right. People expected Ledgerwood to be more at this point. Kicker thinks the club is debating his fate and they don't predict one either. His contract is up after this season, but with the possibility of both Bender brothers being sold, I think they'd better keep Ledgerwood.
Markus Schroth (34): I'm not even going to waste my time telling you what Kicker says besides that he's pretty much an assistant coach already. His ass is done. All they need is his official retirement, which will probably come after the season. He really should stop taking the club's money and retire immediately.
Jose Holebas (24): Kicker says he's stagnated and needs playing time. They think Sechzig will possibly loan him out. Garry, did I mis-read that? I ask because according to Transfermarkt.de, Holebas' contract expires after this season. Seeing that Sechzig will probably still have Lauth, Pourie and Schaeffler next season, if I were Holebas' agent, I'd advise him to leave.
Julian Baumgartlinger (21): Defensive midfielder who is also Austria's U-21 team captain. Kicker calls him a "super talent" who is rarely used. Well, I think the reason he's rarely used is because he isn't truly as good as Kicker thinks he is. His contract expires after this season, he's been linked with Austria Vienna in the past and Kicker thinks he will leave. So do I. I also think as long as Ledgerwood sticks around, Baumgartlinger won't be any great loss.
Nikola Gulan (20): Came to Sechzig as part of the "Stevic Coup". Has not made an appearance and no more money will be wasted on him. Kicker and I are both certain he's gone. He was just a piece of the "Stevic Coup" who served his purpose when he was presented as a new Sechzig player.
The other article's heading reads that Osnabrueck coach Claus-Dieter (Pele) Wollitz says he wants to pull Sechzig down into the relegation battle with them.
I'm sure Wolf has that up on the bulletin board.....

Michael Hofmann (36): Kicker seems to think with his performance so far, he will be extended and kept on board. They think he will stay. I agree.
Stays. He is just so much better and stable than Tschauner. I think Wolf knows extending with Tschauner was a mistake and rectified it as soon as he took over. I'll bet Krauss gets moved up, Hofmann stays on another year (or two) and the shop Tschauner to the 3.BL or Wehen...which is the same thing.
Danny Schwarz (33): Kicker says while there is strong competition at his position, he could be valuable as an experienced backup. They think he'll be sold if there is an offer, but they can see him staying too. They don't know what will happen with him. I agree there too.
If he takes less $$ and agrees that his role is a bench warmer = yes. If not, I can see them punting him.
Markus Thorandt (28): Kicker says his strong second half performance has put him back in the running to hang around. As I remember, he was a bit in Kurz's doghouse. Kicker likes that he can play multiple positions and is a fighter. They think he will stay. So do I.
Simply put, he stays. Wolf sees too much of himself in Thorandt. He is a fighter...just sometimes picks the wrong fights.
I think the only way he stays is if 1860 sells a Bender or two OR BVB lets us have him cheaply; read: near free. Otherwise, we have no $$ to buy him and he will require a transfer fee. Only other caveat is if 1860 gets unforeseen investment money.
This kid is good. Not Bender good but good. If they don't keep him they are stupid.
Markus Schroth (34): I'm not even going to waste my time telling you what Kicker says besides that he's pretty much an assistant coach already. His ass is done. All they need is his official retirement, which will probably come after the season. He really should stop taking the club's money and retire immediately.
Money wasted. Don't re-sign. Make him a youth coach or striker coach.
I rate Ledgerwood above Holebas. His contract is up this summer so I think 1860 only re-sign him depending on what they do with others. They also have some kids coming through who are just as decent as Holebas. I like him but agree on the stagnation angle.
I love the "riesentalent" (huge talent) description. I have never seen it in him; not even when he played for the U23s. I rate Jungwirth, Holebas and Ledgerwood better than him. No great loss if he leaves. I mean, if Rapid Wien is the only club looking, can he really be that RIESEN of a talent?
Nikola Gulan (20): Came to Sechzig as part of the "Stevic Coup". Has not made an appearance and no more money will be wasted on him. Kicker and I are both certain he's gone. He was just a piece of the "Stevic Coup" who served his purpose when he was presented as a new Sechzig player.
Have not seen him play but given that he will not be free and we have youth in the same position, my guess is he goes back to from whence he came.
The other article's heading reads that Osnabrueck coach Claus-Dieter (Pele) Wollitz says he wants to pull Sechzig down into the relegation battle with them. I'm sure Wolf has that up on the bulletin board.....

Not you man, some dude in another thread saying Churundolo was going to MLS. Unlike the german boards where if you don't cite your source you are hounded into non-existence, some BS threads post Abendzeitung-style "rumors" that make Bild look like the Wall Street Journal.:D

(LB on Michael Hofmann) - Stays.
Hey Garry! Your boy Jentzsch just finally got released from Wolfsburg yesterday! What about him??
(LB on Danny Schwarz) - If he takes less $$ and agrees that his role is a bench warmer = yes. If not, I can see them punting him.
Well, you know I'm no fan of his, but if one or both Benders are sold, then you need a solid backup and guiding hand for Ledgerwood......
(LB on Markus Thorandt) - Simply put, he stays. Wolf sees too much of himself in Thorandt. He is a fighter...just sometimes picks the wrong fights.
I think every team can use a guy like Thorandt.......
(LB on Rukavina) - I think the only way he stays is if 1860 sells a Bender or two OR BVB lets us have him cheaply; read: near free. Otherwise, we have no $$ to buy him and he will require a transfer fee. Only other caveat is if 1860 gets unforeseen investment money.
BVB will give Sechzig a cheap price if there is no other interest. We have money problems of our own.
Actually, they might give you a cheap price anyhow. After all, those f#cking football idiots running my club practically gave Martin Amedick to FCK (200,000).
But then again, Amedick joined BVB on a free transfer. Rukavina cost 2.5M Euros.
(LB on Nicolas Ledgerwood) - This kid is good. Not Bender good but good. If they don't keep him they are stupid.
I agree he has the talent, but he also hasn't shown it that much when he has had chances. However, I think if the Benders are gone, Ledgerwood will rise to the occasion.
(LB on Markus Schroth) - Money wasted. Don't re-sign. Make him a youth coach or striker coach.
As Kicker said, he's pretty much already acting as an assistant coach. I think that's what his future role will be. I do believe they will keep Wolf in the job.
(LB on Holebas) - I rate Ledgerwood above Holebas. His contract is up this summer so I think 1860 only re-sign him depending on what they do with others. They also have some kids coming through who are just as decent as Holebas. I like him but agree on the stagnation angle.
As I said, if I were Holebas' agent, I would advise him to leave.

I rate Jungwirth, Holebas and Ledgerwood better than him. No great loss if he leaves. I mean, if Rapid Wien is the only club looking, can he really be that RIESEN of a talent?
Exactly!
(LB on Gulan) - Have not seen him play but given that he will not be free and we have youth in the same position, my guess is he goes back to from whence he came.
Dude, since he joined Sechzig, I don't think many have seen him play! LOL!!
Of course he's going back. As I said, he was just a piece of the "Stevic Coup". My guess is that he was never going to do anything more than smile for the cameras to show the idiot section of the Sechzig fan base that Stevic was going to shake things up.
(LB on Wollitz's words) - Love trash talk. Try to get inside their minds. Should be a good match. Lots of yellow cards!!!!
It was a pretty good match last season. If I don't have a lot to do on Sunday, I may take a trip up to the AA. The weather is getting nicer.

I think on Dish it is a part of their "Germany Packet."
I checked my old cable provider, Time Warner San Antonio, the other week and they now have a 'German Package' too, but I think it's really just DW and some other channel.
Dish's has ProSiebenSat1Welt.

1860 Coach Wolf Fined 4,000 Euros - Kicker.de (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/506747/). Wolf will not be suspended for being banished to the stands twice.
This is a case of the DFB quietly acknowedging that the referee was likely overzelous, but also arning Wolf that two away games + two banishments will get a a lighter wallet. Frankly, I think in BOTH cases Wolf was right, though to complain that vehemently everyone knows gets you no where.
Hey Garry! Your boy Jentzsch just finally got released from Wolfsburg yesterday! What about him??
Don't laugh, but that is the buzz. 1860 has never had the stomach for young keepers and Wolf does not seem hip on Roessl or Tschauner. However, Simon is linked with possible moves to other 2.BL clubs who are higher in the table and closer to Wolfsburg (you guys do the geography).;)
Well, you know I'm no fan of his, but if one or both Benders are sold, then you need a solid backup and guiding hand for Ledgerwood......
Totally agree. And if we have the money as a result of such a sale, I would say keep the sucker.
I think every team can use a guy like Thorandt.......
Thorandt is the new Berhalter.
BVB will give Sechzig a cheap price if there is no other interest. We have money problems of our own.
I expect BVB would do what they can and still make a profit. Although, as you said, your management is not the brightest set of bulbs either. But they do not seem to make small mistakes, just big ones.;)
As I said, if I were Holebas' agent, I would advise him to leave.
Think of a team where ex-Loewen go.

Notice we have not heard much from him lately. My guess is he is all out of ideas and does not want to look the fool. Either that or Wolf "bitch-slapped" him and told him to keep his mouth shut and hands off 'his' team.:D It's a toss up.

1860 has parted ways (http://www.tsv1860.de/de/aktuell/news/2008/news_2009-04-02_gorenzel.php) with former co-trainer Günther Gorenzel-Simonitsch. He came on board when Schachner was coach and was kept around by Kurz. Not sure why we was "beurlaubt" last fall. Rumor was a disagreement with Kurz and Wolf. There was clearly a power struggle going on between Wolf and Simonitsch. Guess who won?
Seems Gulan played a full 90 mins for the Serbian U21 team twice in the last week; once in a 0-0 draw against the Ukraine and again in the 1-1 draw against Bulgaria. Appears someone from the 1860 scouting staff was on hand at both games. Hmmmmmmm. Will he finally play for 1860 coming up?
Final Gregg Comments: (100% class!!!)
When do you hop over the pond and when will your family follow?
Berhalter: I will leave on Thrusday, my family will come about a month later. My wife will take care of the move, also the club will help with all the formalities and paperwork, which is great!
We wish you all the best, Gregg. Stay the way you are and never forget 1860!
Berhalter: (laughing) No worries, the saying goes „Once a Lion - Always a Lion". So is it with me. Thanks for the great time by the Lions and thanks to our fans!

Like Yaz, I could hit for power and average. And the Phillies were my first love in life dude. Philly is my hometown.
The Braves take out the champs? I don't think so.
We probably won't win again, but it won't be the Braves to take us out.
It'll be the US Government supported Mets!
If you're wondering how a Philly kid could be a Yaz/Red Sox fan too, I have family who live not far from Fenway and that is where my love for the Red Sox comes from.

You know, I was thinking the same thing. This was a low budget send off if ever there was one. My bet, knowing how cheap this board is, they will likely have an "abschiedspiel" for Schroth and invite all the guys who retired voluntarily from 1860 to that to save money.
