No she did not make them worse, but she is not up to the task. She missed a ton of calls and made a ton that should not have been remotely whistled.
And I can say the same thing about Lutz Wagner in the Wolfsburg v BVB match.
Where does that make her any different from the others??
(Osnabrueck) FCN=no, Ahlen, yes and perhaps MSV depending on where MSV are on the last day.
Dude, no one likes to lose in front of their own fans on the final day.
Duisburg will not tank on that final day.
FSV have had a great run and decent form. Pauli has nothing to play for and won't want to risk injury. No, they won't beat Mainz but they will need to beat FC Audi to stay up. They COULD take 6 easily.
Garry, FSV has had "a great run of form" based on what? A victory over FCN??
In their last six matches, FSV Frankfurt has two wins, a draw and three freakin' losses.
"A great run of form?" Come on man.
Yeah, they'll probably beat Ingolstadt. What makes you think Pauli "won't want to risk injury??"
I'm saying the same thing about St. Pauli as I did about Duisburg. St. Pauli will not tank in front of their home fans on the final day.
Yes, Duisburg and St. Pauli will have a hard time with their opponents. But they aren't going to just hand over results to "avoid injury".
If someone gets hurt, they'll have ten weeks to heal.
I will bet Sechzig end up 1 point above Koblenz when all said and done.
I'm starting not to give a rat's ass where Sechzig winds up. That club is that much of a mess.
And I don't know who is more frustrating, the inept team and management or the idiot part of the fan base.

"Bild" reports at this link (http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/telegramm/sport-telegramm,rendertext=8347556.html) that Uwe Wolf has been let go with immediate effect and Ewald Lienen will take over at this afternoon's training session.

We have both seen it many times: If there is no chance for promotion and nothing to play for, many teams tank the last game to avoid injury, etc.

Granted their form curve is off at the moment, but they DO have one of the better spring runs. But stil Keith, that's 7 pts, two of which are wins. Mentally that gives them MUCH more than 1860's 9 straight without a win.

Amen. I think this is the first time we have fired 3 coaches in a season. Not to mention all the OTHER positions we have termianted this season. It's a freak'n blood bath.

Well, that was to be expected. I give him 18 months before they fire him.:o

I've never seen any team tank their final match at home to avoid injury, etc.
I've seen teams playing away on the final day do that, but never a home team.
Even with the FCN example I gave of a team who thought they were safe on the final day, their coach, Friedel Rausch, told the team they needed to go out and win the match to ensure things.
That team didn't listen to him. You can bet teams listen now.

They aren't playing 1860, are they?? Just because these guys might be "mentally" better off than 1860, it doesn't mean they are going to beat the teams they are playing.
Sure, they were "hot" before, but they have come back to earth. You want to pretend they are still "hot", but they are not.
You're just determined to find even more doom and gloom in this thing.
We don't need you to do that. There's plenty of gloom and doom already provided by Sechzig without you needing to wish more of it on us.
Nothing to play for.
St. Pauli will play for their fans.
They aren't going to tank on the season's final day at the Millerntor.

I don't think it's going to take that long. It will happen as soon as reality hits next season.

Footy sent me this article (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-germanyunion_sports_feature_pix&prov=reuters&type=lgns) via PM.
What pisses me off is the 1860 fan-base that seems to think the City owes 1860 a stadium and somehow money must be raised on our behalf, rather than the FANS doing it themselves. We should give up our claim to fame as a "blue collar" team and should rename ourselves a socialist "gimme" team. We just seem to have lost the character we used to have and be famous for.:mad:
Wow, taking lessons from Union Berlin. Maybe we DO need a year or two in the 3.BL.:(

Three coaches??
Kurz, Wolf, Gorenzel-Simonitsch, Alfred Böswald.
Add to that the Reuter, Berhalter, Eberlein, Kucukovic, Gebhart, Göktan, Tausenpfund, and Hosiner.
That's not a good year when THAT many people are let go.
And Stevic does not have the balls to even say Wolf is fired, they just call it "freed from trainer responsibilities". He is still under contract so not sure if they will retain him for the U23s or simply pay him out.

So a few observations from the training session with Lienen today...
Did not see Fraulien Pourie out there.
Watching this (http://www.eyep.tv/beitrag/2-bundesliga/video/erstes-training-unter-lienen.html) you can see just how lazy Roesler really is. Even in practice, KNOWING he is on thin ice, he still plays the lazy striker game.
Fetsch was back with the pro team.
A new #9 was on the pitch. Could not make out if it was Mlapa or Sow, or Boele. He was wearing a non-profi #9 kit...tall guy. I think it may be Manga but have not seen him lately...new hair cut.

"I am excited about the pending birth of my child on 6.18. Stevic said that he wants to keep me in some postion with the club - but it is too early to talk about such things. I will always carry the Loewen in my heart, but I am married to my wife, not to Sechzig. I burn with ambition and will soon be back in football."

A shame. 1860 really could have used him in the organization. But he will be back, somewhere, soon. And successful, I am sure.

So here is what is so amusing: Lienen was seen warming up yesterday next to Torben for 20+ mins as they jogged around the park. Money bet is that Lienen was getting Torben's side of the story about the bust-up and checking whether bringing Fraulein Pourie in would cause further unrest. Torben, being the pro he is, likely said, "sure, bring the kids back but tell him to shut the f up...he ain't all that....". Lienen, being the old pro he is, likely had a nice conversation with the Fraulein and his daddy telling them they are in the big leagues now, not U15 football, and that daddy should stay home and find a job instead of sponging off his kid's salary. Looking at his picture (below) tell me he does not look like a cocky douche?

I'd be more inclined to think that Lienen was telling Torben that he has to put the little shit back on the team and was getting Torben's word that Torben won't kill the little Scheisse bastard......

From what I hear, Lienen is the type to put heavy emphasis on what his stammspielers think and then act. He probably did both: Got Torben's take on what happened and that he won't kill the kid upon his return, noting to Torben that he will talk to the kid and tell him to shut the f up and daddy to go home.
Remember, the bust up was just one piece, the other was him walking off the field and going home. Lienen DEFINATELY won't take that.

I know a lot of you liked Uwe Wolf's personality but I am not sad to see him gone. For whatever reason, he did not get the job done. Many things were working against him but he should have done better. I was particularly concerned with the deterioration of the defense/keeping. This was a team that could not get over the hump under Kurz because they could not score. Then with Wolf they scored but gave up lots of goals.
Lienen looks like a good choice. He has experience and has seen a lot. I cannot say I know a lot about him.
He even had troubles with a big-headed striker in Greece (Greek International; Labros Choutos was demoted to the youth team for some internal conflict). I do not know what the conflict was but it got Lienen's assistant (and son-in-law) Abder Ramdane canned when they came to blows. Choutos was the star and captain yet he was told he would no longer play in November (was released in February). Abder Ramdane is now an assistant with 1860. I do not think these two will have any trouble handling Pourie.

I think Uwe said it best in his last interview when leaving Gruenwalderstrasse:
"From day one I received no support from anyone in management. My work was constantly crtiqued and I was giving very little support. It seems every chef was trying to cook his own little soup. My players did the best they could under those extreme circumstances. We had injuries, firings and arguments in the media blaming people, yet no support as a unit."
I love the German word "gemeinsam" becasue to me it connotes so much more than just "together" or "collective". Uwe NEVER had any support in such a fashion. I personally think he got all out of those players that he could. Remember, many of those players have been around the coaches carousel and management baffonary for a long, long time.
Lienen looks like a good choice. He has experience and has seen a lot. I cannot say I know a lot about him.
I hope so. But then again, several of the other coaches looked the same way when they came in. We can only hope that THIS time it is different. Honestly, don't think Ewald is going to take any shiite from the board.

Now THAT'S professionalism. When someone brings their son-in-law with them as assistant that makes me wonder....and scared. Plus, he's French....another reason not to trust him.;)

Garry, did I say anyone would condone that behavior??
I knew they would put this kid back on the roster as soon as they could and I told you that.
For 1860, this came down to money. This was a money move.....
They weren't going to waste the money they've paid Scheisse because of this.
It sure isn't because Pourie is "good......"

Dude, if you think Wolf should have done better, I think you don't have a clue of how bad things are at 1860 right now........
Lienen looks like a good choice. He has experience and has seen a lot. I cannot say I know a lot about him.
I like Lienen, but I don't think he's the guy for this job. I think 1860 needs a taskmaster at this point in time and Lienen ain't it.
Lienen has also been fired more recently than any other coach I can think of besides Ernst Middendorp.
He even had troubles with a big-headed striker in Greece (Greek International; Labros Choutos was demoted to the youth team for some internal conflict). I don't know anything about what happened with Lienen in Greece nor do I care. I know Lienen's German record and that's enough.
They will do well at first next season, but then the bottom will fall out and Lienen will get the sack quickly.
That's his MO.
What will suck is that like Wolf, it won't really be his fault.
1860 should have either gotten behind Wolf or did what they had to do to get Klaus Augenthaler.
I don't think Lienen will survive long at 1860.
