Not so sure he is the right guy for a team aspiring to get into and stay in the 1.BL. At MSV, Rostock, Koeln, BMG he seemed to do okay in his first year, and then the teams head into relelgation danger the next year...where he was fired once they entered the relegation zone. Hannover he lasted a bit longer. At Koeln he was able to get them promoted, so perhaps he is a great 2.BL coach, but his 1.BL credentials are not that impressive. He did well at Panionios for two seasons - taking them from 13th the season before his arrival to 5th twice - but then left in November after being in 8th place and only 3 points above the drop.

Is this truly the best 1860 can do?

Understood. But is specious at best. Once does not say yes when one KNOWS he has a contract elsewhere.

Or one does not say yes when he's older and just wants to go home.

Garry, I'm not saying he doesn't have a contract, but you can't take that speculation and say for sure that he does either......

I agree that the chances are greater that he has a deal with Sechzig already, but we don't know that.

There are reports that Stevic was goign to fire Wolf today but because it is his anniversary, the club decided against it. (....Bull Shitt....) Instead the club is going to Miesbach to hold private training through Thursday. Also, it has been said that Stevic will be with the team the whole time. Now, whether that means he is "taking over" or not is yet to be seen. But I HIGHLY doubt ANYONE is going to put their reputation, such that it is, on the line for this club right now. Any soon-to-be 1860 coach not come early and risk their reputation on a team only 4 points above relegation. Stevic is too pu$$y to put his name where his mouth is and fire Wolf and take over and "save" the club. No other person would be daft enough to come in for 4 games. Lastly the U23 coach is no better a solution than Wolf. So reports are that Wolf is simply a "marionette" for Stevic...which I doubt. Unless I hear Wolf say it himself, I won't believe it. He is not the type to keep his mouth shut and take the blame unless he has full control.

I'm already tired of this bullshit. I'm not even going to comment on all that crap. I'll just wait to see what happens after the season.

They MUST win against Rostock on Friday. A draw is NOT an option. If they do not get 3 points I really, seriously fear this team will be in the 3.BL next season....and Ewald Lienen won't be anywhere around.

Rostock is looking good right now. And I don't just mean because of how they slammed FCK. Zachhuber has gotten their heads out of their asses and has them playing some decent football.

Sorry, but I don't see Sechzig beating them. Not even at the AA.......

Note: I read on one 1860 board where someone (probably a 13 year-old) wrote that, "1860 should just stop screwing around with guys like Wolf and Lienen and hire Arsene Wenger", regardless the cost. I laughed SOOOO hard reading that I nearly fell off my chair. That someone could call themselves a fan of 1860 and not know we are broke as Oliver Twist and could not lure Wenger within 5 miles of the club even if we had strippers and free wine, makes me ashamed this guy is an 1860 fan.

Garry, sometimes you can be confusing.

Here, you write something like this, but then in your next message, you ask if Lienen is the best 1860 can do.

You should know yourself that not every coach is going to jump to take this job.

They can see just as well as we can what kind of MORONS they'd be working for.

Do you really think a Mirko Slomka, Wolfgang Wolf or even Michael Skibbe would jump to take this job?

I don't.

If I were a coach of any reputation, I wouldn't touch this job with a 10 foot pole.

A coach like Lienen, who is older and probably just wants to come home and finish his career?

Yeah, I could see him doing it.......

Again, read the things you write yourself. What makes you think any better coach would want the helm of his sinking ship???

How "old" do you think he is? He's 55, dude. It's not like the dude is pusing up daisies right now.:D

Not saying we would get a top tier coach, but certainly we can get someone with a better record like Rapholder or something. I know damn well most coaches do not want to work with our Board. The rumor is that when they fired Reuter in the manner they did, many, many of the coaches in the BL wrote 1860 off their list until there is a change at the board level. Reuter had TONS of friends in the German football community and it is showing now with how hard it is to get a serious, good candidate. Still, there has to be someone stupid enough with a decent record to take the team.;)

I know how old he is. But he's also told reporter buddies of mine in the past year or two that he's nearly done with coaching too.

Don't think everything these guys say gets published.

What makes you think so?? What makes you think Rapolder would want to take over a sinking ship even if the one he's on winds up sinking??

Especially now that the FCK job has just come open. I'm sure he'll be a candidate for that and I'd definitely take that one before the Sechzig job.

Had not heard those rumors and am not sure what kind of "friends" Reuter has in the game. I know I wish he'd go to Dortmund and help out BVB.

No one that is so much better than Lienen.

These other guys can afford to wait for other jobs.

Overall, I'm with you. They are stupid to not just keep Wolf, but I think they are trying purge everything "Reuter/Ziffzer."

LOL!! Very funny! But he is a guy who would take the job!

Problem is, what happened in Kaiserslautern also happened to him in Koblenz too......

Not sure what happened to him at TuS. I know they fired him on the 30 match day after losing to 'haching. Sure they were in the relegation race, but they WERE just a newly promoted team which HE built.

It would WAY too odd if Rapholder followed him at FCK after having followed him at TuS. Hey....maybe THAT's how we get Uwe.....we hire Sacic, fire him in a year and Rapholder follows.:p

There is a report in the Merkur that 19 year-old striker Philip Hosiner and 20 year old defender Florian Tausendpfund have signed with SV Sandhausen until 2011. These are two young hopefuls which 1860 SHOULD have kept.

http://www.merkur-online.de/sport/tsv-1860/talente-hosiner-tausendpfund-nach-sandhausen-277007.html?cmp=

It appears that mgmt, if true, wants to sell off our future to pay for "experience". We tried this experiment before and it did not work. Seems we are mortgaging our future for potential short-term gain.

Now you sound like Uwe. Did he "build" that team or did his manager do it??

Dude, I don't think you get it. Sasic is basically just a "quieter and calmer" version of today's Lorant.

Sasic can get teams on the right track or back on the right track, but his ueber-authoritarian style wears on his players and eventually, they tune him out.

Coaches like that are always good for the short-term, but usually never ever get you to where you want to go.

Let's see how it all falls into place.

I think if Kuntz can't get Koller from Bochum, he'll go after Rapolder or Wolfgang Wolf.

Daniel Bierofka am Boden – ein Bild mit Symbol-Charakter. Wegen zahlreicher Verletzungen war der 1860-Kapitän in dieser Saison meist außer Gefecht

"Bild" reports that Bierofka (http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussball/zweite-liga/2009/05/05/1860-muenchen-loewen-schock/daniel-bierofka-droht-saison-aus.html) might be out for the season.

A second external confirmation that Sasic will be in Muenchen this week and likely at the game Friday as guest of Stevic.

Take a trip down 1860 Memory Lane with the record transfers in and out here (http://www.merkur-online.de/sport/tsv-1860/rekordtransfers-tsv1860-31042.html;jsessionid=B208C6588A7860AF25F406E12F6A2BED).

For a bit of fun write down the transfer in amount, then see how much we lost on each transfer.

Ewald Lienen is being reported as the new coach of 1860 set to take over next season. No details yet on the contract or sum. Wolf, who has a contract through 2010, may either be sent back to coach the U23s or be offered the CO position under Lienen.....assuming he does not go to coach under Lukhay at FCA.:(
