There will no match in New York on Sept. 11. Zoffinger, the head of the NJSEA (the body that controls the Meadowlands) has decided (rightfully, IMHO) that Sept. 11 should be a day off for soccer. Besides, the Metrostars play DC United on the 12th.

Sachin,
Thank you for the update.
What about the typical FIFA sponsored post-WC match with World All-Stars...didn't Claudio get voted onto this?
when & where will that match be staged?
thanks in advance.

That was the original Sept. 11th idea.
I don't know when it will happen now.

I doubt world all stars will travel to America to play in some shity charity match when the domestic seasons in Europe are just getting back into full swing.
Another thing is football is a minority sport over there so their would be no point having it as it would just be a total waste of time.
Why not have yourselfs a good old charity american football match and pat each other on the back for being such a great nation and then you can all stand up and cry while singing the national anthem.
God Bless America

they just had a match for charity UN/Aids in New jersey a few weeks back Roma vs. Real Madrid that drew over 70,000. A few years back in this same stadium Brazil played a world 11 and drew over 75,000. No what you speak of before you critize having a game in the US. I will grant you the fact that the sport in the US is not a major sport but if you get the right teams you can have a huge draw for charity. For example a Mexico or a brazil would draw well in certain parts of the country.
