I just started to wonder today: Is there a good team in the world without a single player from Brazil or Argentina?
Aston Villa, Wigan, Fulham, West Ham, Atletico Balboa?

This is actually easier than I previously thought. I forgot about Zenit St. Petersberg.

Zenit had Argentine Alejandro Dominguez till not too long ago. He was recently sold.
If Italy decides to call up Amauri then maybe we can add Juve to the list ;).

How could I forget about Cvitanich? But Leonardo is easy to forget.
PSV should be up there then.
I was going to say Everton, but they have Jo, even though he's not doing much.

Well Jo has 3 goals in 5 games for them since joining them in January.

Yeah, two in the first game, I believe. Hasn't done a whole lot since then. But I think he'll be a factor eventually, he's got talent.

What are you considering a "good" team? These teams are good by comparison to most on the planet, but none of them have won a CL or even a UEFA Cup recently. In fact, I don't recall OTTOMH any of these teams even winning their domestic league title recently (aside from Celtic or Rangers, of course).

Yes, but it was 1982. That's why I said recently.

Agreed. But this is where I have to break off from my usual favoring of tournaments over seasons. If I had to choose between being a player or a fan of an undefeated champion of one of the three major leagues or a player or fan of a team that won the Champions League, I'd take the former without hesitation.
Also... does their quarter-century old triumph qualify the for status as a good team? I'd say no, but I do think they're a good team. I'm simply wondering where the line is drawn between "good enough to be mentioned here" and "Not good enough to be mentioned here". That's not the title of the thread, but it IS the question you posed in the opening sentence. No sweat either way.

May be it's my careless mistake to have different title and messages. The key is whether any good team. I was really wondering two different things at the same time. Which is the best team in the world without a Brazilian or Argentine? And is it a good team?
Then, "good" can be dfined in many different ways. To some people, good teams meant the top 5 teams in the world. Some considered them as the top five in any given league.

Ehm... Didn't Rangers play a European Cup final recently ? After eliminating Sporting, Werder, Panathinaikos ?
