He's had a solid season and Villa have been doing well since the first month. Left midfield is still a question mark. Why not Barry?

Please name another English left side midfielder that has played better than Barry this year.

I think he should at least get a look in England training and in a friendly.

He's a decent player, his best asset is how versatile he is. I think he's not far away from the squad, but doesn't have enough pace to make it.

I'd say give the spot to Gareth Barry, Joe Cole or maybe even Ashley Cole...

Gareth Barry is a player I really haven't seen enough of (so I am not too sure of his strengths and weaknesses), but whenever I do see the guy in action, he is indeed very good and deserves a shot.

Joe Cole is perhaps the most gifted of the three, and although is is better in the centre, he is still very good on the left (but not very wide)... his biggest drawback is that he doesn't get as much play as the other two (but in fairness, gets more time than Ranieri than most would have thought).

Ashley Cole would be a very good left winger, as well. He is obviously a leftback, but if you stick Wayne Bridge (better defensively) in there and put Ashley (better attacking) up to midfield he could flourish even more - he is as good, or even better, attacking as most left wingers and while not a great defensive fullback, would be above average in said department as a winger.

If Keiran Richarson (20 y/o ManU prospect) were getting more playing time, he would be another top contender - trust me, this guy is lethal.

For all the wishing of Irish fans to have somebody like Owen to partner Keane up front, it must be the same for you guys and Duff.

Dunn's been out of the Brum side too much this year and he hasn't been nearly as good as when he was with Blackburn. Besides, his best position is center mid, which is a logjam.

Don't get going about Joe Cole, he's really a forward, but got put back into midfield at West Ham, and all of sudden he is a left winger like Kieron Dyer, apparantly.
Ashley Cole shouldn't be at left back because he's not the greatest defending, Bridge can do a more solid job. Alan Thompson should be given a go if Barry is. At least he's given up on Heskey left wing.
Giggs and Kewell could've both played for England... DAMN! I'd rather see a natural left sided player play there than a more quality player there but out of position, for example; Heskey, Dyer, Lampard, Scholes, Sinclair, Murphy, and I'm sure there's a few more.
If this is a call for places in the England squad, then Wright-Phillips should be given a go on the right and try Beckham in the middle.

Very true.

Duff would be perfect for England, and Keane has looked very comfortable with a fast goalscorer like Defoe who is similar in style to Owen.

You are correct, sir. Unfortunately for Barry, I don't have any pull with Svenny.
