The plans are to start in summer (completed till 2006). Capacity will be 32.000 (14.000 seats, 22 VIP boxes). Costs will be something about 35 Mio Euro. Pictures aren't available yet.

And you can add that nothing is sure because the city don't favour building for sport.

The city of Essen decided that RWE can start to build a new stadium. Capacity will be 32.000 (18.000 seats, 14.000 terrace places - 25.000 seats for international matches). Building will probably start by end of the year. Stadium will cost about 36 Mio euro.

Funny is: 25.000 for international games.
???
The way to the 1st BuLi is hard enough for Essen and will take a lot of time.
But to plan international, hm.

I see pictures from the stadium/planning in TV today, seems to be a nice stadium.

Just a theoratical number. Though Essen won't see UEFA/CL matches for a long time, maybe they host DFB matches or U21 matches one day.

Are there any pics out there? Saw one some weeks ago but the URL doesn't work anymore. :-(

This .pdf-file contains the match day magazine of RWE - BVB (A). Scroll down and you'll find infos about the new stadium and even some pics (in German - the text, not the pics ;-).
