First of all apologies for the splice.
Is returning imminently. Is going to be back by the time we'll be needing him.
Fabregas has not played in three months.
Fabregas is not back now.
Fabregas was required immediately, as per the rules.
Sorry, I need to take a bathroom break. Even the most deluded Arsenal fan will agree that he has had a below par 12 months or so, but after carefully reading your exact statement... well i'm afraid that it seems I just shat myself with laughter.
Fabregas was not the best central midfielder on his own team over the last two full seasons and has been poor this season when featured. Over the last three seasons he has two saving graces. The first is his one month purple patch over Aug/Sep in 07/08. The second is his role as Arsenal's passing set-piece taker (i.e. not direct and corners) which has enabled him to generate assists despite not playing well overall. If you want to have a crippled Fabregas standing at the side of the pitch until you get a freekick or a corner then so be it but effectively playing with ten men just so you have a 'kicker' is not only a poor pick but a poor tactic. It is made worse by his inability to make a difference by scoring direct from freekicks.
So what was the score in the Newcastle-Arsenal match then?
?
He will be judged as being rushed back... IF the tournament begins before he returns, and only then IF we chose to play him in some earlier games. And then it will only be IF he has not returned for Arsenal by that stage (seems to me you have this funny idea of these draft tourney's flowing along nice and quickly?). And then it will also be marginal 'rushing back' at best since he is back in training with Arsenal and returning very, very soon.
The rules very clearly state: 'You are selecting a 16 man squad to compete in a tournament immediately'. I have already explained this point. You cannot wait until the end of the draft in the hope that an injured player might return. It does not work like that. Fabregas has been out for three months with a long term injury and you have rushed him back. It was your decision and you must now deal with the consequences.
Yes. Yes we can - it's called the bigger picture, that we're looking at here. It doesn't make sense to you for a simple reason -- we haven't told you why yet!
You would be better served with an admission that I am correct.
Well you mightn't like risks, but 26 & I have taken plenty and our team is looking pretty damn strong from it.
I would hardly call a squad of nine players that contains:
(1) A striker who has been out for four months and will not play again this season
(2) A central midfielder who has been in suspect form over the last three seasons, has been out for three months and has not returned from injury
... 'pretty damn strong'. I could pass comment about some of your other players but I will save that for the tactics. The Van Nistelrooy pick was inexcusable and the Fabregas pick poor at this stage of the draft.
Teso. I know how you operate better than 99% of posters here. I know you take these drafts quite seriously/competitively, and well... for you to be trying to take shots at 26 & I right now... let's just say it fills me full of even more confidence in my team.
Or maybe you are just desperate to get some of that everlasting heat off of your Ballack pick?
That was a pretty pathetic attempt at draft posturing billy. I have remained relatively quiet in terms of draft picks but for one team to show such a clear misunderstanding of the rules and then laughably attempt to defend their position in the way you have is too much to let slide. Attempt to deflect the attention away by mentioning Ballack all you wish. It is a sign of your clear desperation. Ballack is an issue of system as opposed to being crippled.
Point...Billy.
See above.
Without agresivity, I've to say I'm in most agree, but just how the jugdes are going to take players like Cesc Fábregas and Ruud van Nistelrooy, both in the same team! I think it's a big risk that if is taken like I think, could down too much the potential of their team.
I am glad someone else agrees.
Unless you've not had caffeine since you started posting here, I'd venture a guess that caffeine is likely not the problem. ;)
This week it is. In addition to being stranded on Stornoway for the 17th and having countless software issues since I returned.
billy, you of all people should know that match-fitness does not depend on games played 6 months back but whether you have actually played any competitive games of late. That is pretty obviously the reason why no one selected him and if the judges actually go by the rules, they have to consider him not match-fit.
The situation would be eased if Fabregas was back playing like some of the other players billy tried to compare him to but he is not.

Someone f'd up. I proxied different picks last night to Grinners and CCSC.
Billy came on and picked a different guy - who is now gone.
Plus, I'm online well before out time period is up, and I'd like to sit down and look at shit before I'm forced to take the guy that is up now.
Next draft, there needs to be more use of the judges as proxies and draft facilitators.

Well, in 28 minutes I'll be stuck with this pick, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Sorry I don't understand. Has johno picked someone you didn't ask for? Or just picked before you were available?

What exactly do you want judges to do in this situation?

How many games have you actually seen Danny play this season?
I supposed you're referring about the last season (the last year), aren't?, because just started this season this week there I think.
I've seen around 4 matches of him in the Russian league the last season, including against Spartak Moscow when he scoring twice. I remember he didn't play much matches, less than 10, and I could seen him in all his participation in the Champions League (6 matches).
So, since he was transferred to Zenit Saint Petersburg, around 10 matches, most than the half he played there I can bet. I known him since he was in Sporting Lisbon and Dinamo Moscow, I think he's a very good player, but just under Simao in general terms.

Fabregas hasn't played in the year 2009, that's all that needs to be said about that. As for arguing that Danny's better than Simao, I don't believe he is but it's irrelevant considering I picked Simao after anyways, so what's your stance?

I accidently selected one player then removed him. Then I selected Aurelio.

Schafer, hope u are around... not gonna be on. In light of developments we should consider going for a CB instead of our planned pick. However, I leave everything at your discretion. I'm about to go get crunk.

I was wondering when you would draft him; I had him in my larger shortlist but my partner cut him out of the main list. Your original pick is probably still 4th in my list for that position so I would guess that was partly the reason behind your culling him.

wow, very impressed with the Misimovic pick. He's been fantastic this season and was on our shortlist. Great pickup.

Thanks, I really love his creativeness and ability to produce, over the past 3 years he has really put up some great numbers, certainly one of the most dynamic players in the bundesliga in my opinion. I was going to wait another round to pick him, but I really like this guy a lot and didn't want to take the risk of losing him.
