"For the future I wish to be going to a championship I don't know a lot about," Capello told Sky Sport Italia.
"It's mentality and athleticism - I want a different way of life, and this is in England."
Capello then admitted he had his eye on the role at White Hart Lane
"I like a lot Arsene Wenger's A*senal, and the Chelsea of my friend Claudio Ranieri," he continued.
"But Tottenham are historically an important team in English football and they intrigue me a lot - if they have the ambition and the strength to make a big team.
"The challenge that attracts me abroad is for cultural differences.
"I like English football for its athleticism, for the players' capability to play the ball."
Nice to hear such things from a great coach.

For me Capello is probably the best manager in the world, so I know that this must be a complete fiction. However, we can dream.

Surely got his eyes on Chelski, despite the Sven speculation he's the one they should appoint.
I don't blame him for wanting to move to the Premiership. He's conquered Spain and Italy already, this is the next great challenge for him and a strong showing here would seal his his place right up there as one of the best of all time. I'd love for us to have him, won't happen, but would be fantastically amusing if it did :D

:D. wenger will probably be the next link. how we'll laugh when it turns out to be barry fry. i long for the summer.... a few weeks ago i was sure it was trappatoni but now i really have no idea. if any of these rumours are true, it could be one of the biggest summers in the history of the club.

I'm shocked and perplexed at this one. If it is indeed an accurate quote, I don't know what to think.
He's obviously a top notch manager (last season's Roma being an abberation), and if he wanted to come we'd have to make it happen. But Roma are on top now, sorting through their financial problems, and all this can do is unsettle Roma to announce this right now. Why would he say something like this now?
If the Spurs manager is already "done and dusted" as Pleat says, then it seems foolish for Capello to announce it now, so we can only assume (reasonably so) that it's not him. What does he gain to be considered for the Spurs post? The only things I can come up with are that A) it unsettles Spurs thus helps Ranieri and Wenger down the road (although neither is particularly worried about Spurs at the moment), or B) it helps his salary re-negotiation if he's re-negotiating. Just all around odd timing ... I don't get it. And furthermore, I very skeptical that he is honest about it if he did in fact say it.

If we do get Capello (highly unlikely), maybe he'll bring Chivu with him ... God knows we need him. Yeah, snowball's chance and all, but as long as we're dreaming ...

I just wondered if it was a bluff. If we have appointed our manager but don't want to disclose it for his sake, then if someone says "I would like to be manager" everyone will think "well it can't be him as they've already appointed". A bit far fetched but still we can hope.

It's not a bad dream given the horrid financial situation Roma is in.

Timing is quite good, IMO. This is the time when players are starting to stongly consider their contracts (transfers or resigning). Having Capello be quite experienced in this area (and the questionable things that happen everywhere, not just in Italy) make me think that timing may be important for players he wants - if it is him.
Of course, I feel like I am still dreaming.

Do I have to start pinching you guys? This is Tottenham we are talking about here. Lets just hope for someone other than Antic and be happy about that. Us getting Capello is like saying we are going to get Sir Alex next. Just people trying to sell papers is all.

Capello to Chelsea.
O'Neill to Liverpool.
Trapattoni or Mourinho for Tottenham.
I'd settle for this.

Me too lets hope one of these two guys would come to Tottenham if we asked. I am afraid Trap is going to say no to us and not for sure about Mourinho since Pleat pretty much called him a liar the other day after saying no one had been in contact with him from spurs in Oct.
