Well i must say i didn't think it would be him dumping us, especially after the BLIND faith shown by Benitez.
But with masch and alonzo having a stellar year ill be happy to trade him in for something we actually need.
Good player but just not as good as what we already have, how many times have i said that about a benitez signing ??????

All players who haven't nailed down a starting spot on their team look around and wonder if there may be greener pastures elsewhere when the season comes to a close. As for Lucas in particular, he has had some solid performances for us, but he's cost us some very valuable points as well. Then again, he's only 22 and Rafa apparently sees something great in him. Or Rafa's a stubborn bastard who won't give up on one of his signings without boat loads of evidence to the contrary. Either way, I'm betting he stays for at least another season.

"The situation doesn't really worry me, but my objective has always been to play in order to make sure I am back with the national side."
Non-issue and crap journalism. Par for the course.
He's our #4 CM behind Masch, Xabi, and Stevie (#3 really b/c he'll play CM in our 4-2-3-1 if either Masch/Xabi are out). He realizes this and has always said he loves learning from the best central midfielders in the world. He's an important player for our squad b/c he gives us good depth - with Xabi out against the Scum, who would we have played instead?
Despite pretty shoddy form this year, he has had some good performances, not least of which was last weekend. Benitez has faith in him and he seems a loyal servant to the club, despite being shit on by a lot of our fans. He will be crucial in the first leg of our next CL tie, as Masch will be out, and I hope he continues his good play. He's still very raw and the game is still too fast for him, but you can see why he captained the Brazil U-20's and was Brazilian player of the year while at Gremio.
Not a chance he's sold at this point.

Does he really think that he is going to get a lot more playing time at another club in Europe?!

There's tons of mid-to-upper-table clubs all across Europe that would love to have a player of Lucas' pedigree. Fortunately he realizes that he's learning from the best, and still gets a fair amount of time on the pitch despite playing at the team with the most stacked central midfield in the world.

But any as good as Liverpool?
I am just saying, he wants his spot in the Brazil team, but he isn't going to get it if he plays slightly more at a club mired in mid-table mediocrity.

Whatever...!
If he stays I think he can only improve. If he leaves, he's replacable. Right now he continues to get a little better each match but still isn't Xabi's or Masch's level.

Trick question. ;)

You're giving this shite article too much credit. Of course he wants to play for Brazil in the World Cup next year. What Brazilian doesn't? Of course the way to do that is by getting regular playing time (more regular than he's gotten this year).
None of this adds up to him wanting to leave Liverpool.

I am just saying we are the best club in Europe. :D

A LFC.tv article was released with Lucas proclaiming that the rumours are false and he is extremely happy to be learning off Xabi, Masch and Gerrard.
He also stated that although it is hard to perform when you only play a couple of times per month, he is continuing to work hard and make sure he improves.

It's nonsense. He might be able to play more minutes for a Wigan or (horrors!) Blackburn, but he's not going to have the chance to be around a trio of players who are among the best midfielders in the world. He can shop himself till the cows come home, but he's in one of the finest classrooms a young player could attend.
OTOH, maybe Liverpool would loan him to a team coming up from the CCC. Wolverhampton might be able to play him some minutes. Lucas is certainly better than Matthew Jarvis, isn't he?
Somebody drop a line to Dunga, yeah?

I want him to stay, and I wasn't questioning his wanting to stay. I was questioning the fact that the report was insinuating that he could go elsewhere and maybe improve his chances of making the Brazilian squad.
He will have to improve and be consistent, because Mr. Jay Spearing is right behind him, chomping at the bit for more playing time.

So I take it your either a Marseille supporter or a Albanian supporter?
Either way. One, it isn't really fair to compare the two. Two, having fun in the UEFA Cup if your a Marseille supporter or having fun being one of the laughingstocks of European football if your a Albanian supporter?

They both play in the same position more or less (central, defensive midfielders). I think it's fair to compare the two. Lucas has got to be one of the least effective players in Liverpool's history. I'd feel much more confident with Cana on my team and the reason I bring him up is because he's shown interest in moving to one of the top dogs in Europe, and Cana can't really cost that much, which is perfect for Liverpool because the budget is relatively low...
And 2 points, no I'm not a Marseille supporter, and I'm not an Albanian supporter. I'm a Liverpool supporter and I'm American. And I don't think it's fair for you to call Albania the laughingstocks of Europe just because someone thinks an Albanian player is better than the almighty Lucas.
Don't let your hatred towards others get the best of you...

Good player, is Cana, but more likely than not will struggle in England. It's an forgiving league.

Sure, they play the same position, but here's two major differences.
Cana is 25, he is a well-established international (30 some Caps) and the captain of his club team. Lucas is 22, he isn't a well-established international (3 Caps) and is considered the fourth best center midfielder at his club.
Cana plays at a club that is fine with UEFA Cup soccer and a country that considers a good start to a WC Qualifying campaign being home and away victories over Luxembourg. He hardly plays under the same pressure that Lucas plays under. Lucas plays for Liverpool, one of the biggest and greatest clubs in Europe, he also plays for Brazil, the best soccer nation in the world. The pressure on Lucas is much greater than the pressure placed on Cana.
Also, who is Cana compared to at Marseille? Who does he have to play better than or equal to for him to be considered good? Because Lucas has to play well enough to be considered a fair replacement for Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano. Not really fair, is it?
I doubt Cana would come cheap. Like I said he is in the prime of his career, a club captain, and an established international. If a big club would come in to buy him they would probably expect to pay over what his actual value is. Marselle are notoriously cheap/money-grabbing (see their transfer sagas).
Finally, and this is the important part. So you really think Lucas has been one of the least effective players in the history of LFC? Really?! Really? Okay. I can name a couple of different players just in the last five years that have been just as or less effective than Lucas. Here we go. Jan Kromkamp, Phillip Degen, Josemi Rey, Charles Itandje, Salif Diao, Mark Gonzalez, Anthony Le Tallec, and Djimi Traore (though he was used a lot he was absolute shit).
