I know it's a bit early but hey.... It's our first game! I say we win this one. Oh and I'll volunteer to do all the game threads this season. :)

Ricketts looked REALLY good in AZ till he got hurt so it sucks that he's missing out on the home opener. Our back line was "meh" but it looked better than last years so far in pre-season.

At any rate, feel free to join ACB in Lot 13 pre-game for some german food and a keg, or in 121 during the game. Also, I believe we're heading to the Double Tree Inn after the game for more food and beer (VERY NICE bar and patio area there for those who haven't been).

It feels good to be going to a real game again. Those PPC and AZ games didn't feel right to me.

Hopeful Lineup:

..........................Ricketts...........................

Franklin.....Gonzalez..........Sanneh......De La Garza

.........................Kovalenko...............................

.....Klein...........................................Lewis........

...........................Donovan.................................

..............Magee...................Buddle..................

It would be nice to see what a guy like Bowen could do opposite Buddle. He hasn't had much time in the pre-season matches, so it doesn't look like he'll get much p.t.. He or Magee might have the pace to take the pressure off of Donovan and Buddle. I think Gordon would be better coming off of the bench. Magee would be also, but I think we should come out firing for once.

Since Miglioranzi has a slight injury, that answers the question of why he wasn't starting the Phoenix game. Tudela took full advantage of his chance, didn't he?

Saunders vs. Wicks??? Maybe? Which one will prevail?

Tony Sanneh hasn't been signed yet, but obviously he's supposed to be our starter. I wonder if he can't believe what MLS wants to pay him? I hope he and the 3 young amigos can pull it together and make up a decent back line. The chances aren't great, but hey, you never know! All things are possible before the season starts!

Nice goal by Tudela and he might be possible future d-mid starter material...But we need better/quicker offense from the middle of the field.

Tudela was more of an attacking mid in that game. I think Kova has D-mid on lockdown even though he didn't show very well in AZ.

We may not have Sanneh for the first game either. Bruce is saying its up to the league to sign Sanneh before Sundays game and its out of LAGs hands.

I can't believe the season is about to start!

And I can't believe I'm excited...but I am!

We'll take this game: 2-0.

LOL, for spits a giggles, I decided to see with the DC board said about this game. Not surprisingly, there is absolutely nothing game related in their Pre-Game thread. They've got the standard LD drinking fountain picture (really? you can't come up with anything better than that after how many years?), and some moaning about a stadium, and a you tube clip of some band.

If their team is just as serious about the game as their fans seem to be, I say we take this one 3-1. Donovan, Magee and Lewis all get to open their accounts in this game.

DC has some injury issues - more than we do, I think. And this is our home opener. So we better win....

I don't think Arena will want more than one rookie on the backline if possible, so if Lewis and Buddle are good to go and Sanneh is signed by the end of the week, then my projected starting lineup is:

-------------Saunders
Franklin--Gonzo--Sanneh--Lewis
-------Tudela-----Kovalenko
Klein-----------------------Magee
--------------Donovan
--------------Buddle

For better or worse, it's time to get this season started and see what sort of team we've got.....

Any info on your boy Edson? I hope he's good to go- we need him.

Amen to that. But we have Alan Gordon just in case. He is due for a break a leg year, errr, beak out year. Seriously look at his stats. 5 goals in half a season. If he plays the whole season he might have 10 which is decent and if he has good playing time for extended periods he should get more than 10. We've all been waiting year for him to blossom.

Yeah, but if Magee is out Lewis is going to have to play Left Mid and AJ behind him. Magee DOES have a knock right now doesn't he?

This is sad and we must not repeat. I think breaking this spell would be a huge confidence booster:

Against D.C. United on Sunday, the Galaxy will be looking to win their first season opener since the 2004 season when they defeated New England 3-2 at The Home Depot Center. Since that game, the Galaxy are 0-3-1 in season openers, allowing eight goals while failing to score any.

DeLaGarza--Marshall--Gonzalez--Franklin

I think it would be worth seeing just for the sheer horribleness of it.

That would actually be pretty entertaining. I bet, though, they slide Franklin into the center instead and play a vet in his spot.
