Ok- I still have a smile on my face from Saturday- but that win won't mean much in terms of the League race unless we win this game.
Villa have fallen off the rails somewhat since O'Neill decided to rotate his players in the Uefa Cup ;) with 3 losses and a draw meaning they've dropped to 5th.
It should still be a tough game and the pleyers having a week's rest should be up for it.
I'd stick with pretty much the same squad as the ManU game, but with Arbs & Xabi hopefully slotting back in! ;)

I see this as a match where Benitez decides that he's going to come out guns blazing. Therefore I expect Mascherano nowhere near the pitch. He'll play Lucas and Alonso as deep-lying midfielders and Kuijt, Gerrard and Babel (!) as attacking midfielders, with Torres alone up front.
The backline will feature Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtl and Aurelio.
The scoreline will be the same as against ManU, 4-1, with Ashley Young marking for Villa on 61 minutes. The goal-scorers for Liverpool will be Gerrard ( 23 ), Torres ( 37, 55 ) and Kuijt ( 79 ).

The Arsenal fans I know have completely supported LFC in our run to dethrone the Mancs, so I'd say it's time to do them a favor and pound Villa right out of the CL at Anfield. Hopefully Arsenal will be so grateful that they'll gift us an easy win in about a month's time so we can keep the pressure on.

Don't forget about the penultimate game of the season, when Arsenal visits Old Trafford. That would be a huge favor for us as well.

It's going to take several “favors” against ManUre for you guys to pull it off... From Villa, Spurs, City, & Arse and even Boro & Hull. That's a lot to hope for but if you can avoid more dreaded draws against beatable teams (Fulham, Blackburn W. Brom, West Ham etc.) you could make it dicey on the last day... Can't promise we'll lay down for you, but best of luck and full support on the quest. :D

Good for you, I'll just bet that a few of those above mentioned clubs wouldn't mind giving us a point or three for the cause....
Just remember guys that Juanita is an Arsenal fan, well he was before they disowned him..:)

I had an inkling Villa's momentum would be halted as the season progressed. MON did very well with them but their squad is way too thin with this schedule as well as having to participate in Europe. That kinda thing will just wear players down, especially a team that plays the same 11-15 players week in and week out.
The momentum to put them away is there. Whether we'll do it or stumble at home yet again is another matter.
I think Babel should get the start in this game. Just like Kuyt came good in the second half last season I think Ryan can hit a good run of form as the season comes to a close.

Good point. Villa look about ready to throw in the towel. I just about lost my shit when when I heard the commentators criticizing Marty O'Neill for playing so few players over the course of the year. With Rafa, it was his "rotation" policy they loved to harp on; now they're making an issue of O'Neill's anti-rotation. I love it.
I'd love to keep the goals flowing. How about another 4-1 for us?

actually, hopefully, here we go with some football. I think rafa still understands that his transfer funds this year are his cl winnings, so he is not going to neglect that come hell or high water. On the other hand, he can go at if differently now in the prem. Its win or bust, so by 65 min sub time, he can go nuts. Formation, Tactics, whatever. 1 at the back. As long as top 4 is still locked in, its ok to press for the wins even if your rafa.
Villa actually then becomes huge, becouse we would go far clear on that. Rafa, Untied. 8 to go.
So lets win this puppy mes amigo's.
