Official Chicken Little vs. Pollyanna Thread

You know it's coming. In fact, in some threads, it has already begun...the age old battle between Chicken Little and Pollyanna. This is BigSoccer - there is no room for reason!

So here it is, the official Chicken Little vs. Pollyanna thread! All you panicky Petes and cracksmokers, here's the place to let loose with your wildest irrational diatribes about how Freddy's choice of shampoo during the preseason means we won't score until June, or how this is the year Tino and Jaime combine for 45 goals during Nowak's Army's undefeated, untied march to the MLS Cup title!

I'll start things off:

Since last year, as every Chicken Little worth his or her salt knows, all of our problems were the fault of Marco, Ray, and (to a lesser extent) Trask, and they're gone, DC United will be an unstoppable force, no matter how much weight Freddy does or does not gain!

See how easy that was?

Fortunately our cunning team has assembled the shortest squad in the league. Consequently all the other sides get knocked silly and we score goals with stunning ease.

Both the CSC and Dema break a few kneecaps, Petke gets busted for buying Freddy beers, Alecko gets tattooed in the forehead again only to send it over the crossbar, we beat another EPL team, free beers and nachos on Hispanic Heritage night, Convey becomes the new BigSoccer whipping boy and uh.....we squeak into the playoffs.


Bottom line.....Same 'Ol, Same 'Ol.....

Here's the Chicken Little perspective: we are owned by the Metros all season then Anschutz dies and funding for MLS collapses--we go the way of WUSA.

Here's the Pollyanna perspective: Nowak has the book on Bradley and we whip the Metros throughout the season, Adu is ready for prime time and Convey owns the keys to the car--we cruise in style.

As for the season, one minute at a time. Every victory doesn't guarantee the next, every loss doesn't mean the end, a new coach will not make everything all better, and EVERY player is expendable!

But don't take my word for it - I'm just here for the beer... ;)

And if the frustrating seasons continue, we'll have terraces soon enough...
