You pay for what you get........You pay for what you get........Don't expect a free lunch......... said I couldn't tell you I'm okay I'm NOT okay.
Multnomah County isn't exactly enthralled with the idea of funding this stadium. Neither is the Portland Trail Blazers as someone previously promissed them the land.
Maybe President Obama's stimulus money can be tapped?
soccer times article on state of MLS (http://www.soccertimes.com/mls/2009/mar12)
That's not all. Urban renewal money raised by the selling of bonds would be used to fund the plan and a new urban renewal district would have to be established to spend it on a new baseball park. Multnomah County officials say no new urban renewal districts can be started without the county's approval and they are not happy with the proposed plan. Nor are the Trailblazers pleased about the prospects of a baseball stadium being built on land they say has been promised them to build a new shopping and entertainment complex next to their arena.

This is factually incorrect and links to a half literate article. Multnomah County can do nothing about money coming from an existing Urban Renewal District -- that is the money that will be used towards the new baseball park. They could potentially try to prevent a new URD from forming -- that would have been the money used towards renovating the soccer stadium. The new URD was taken off the table yesterday so this is not an issue.
The Trail Blazers don't own the land where the new baseball stadium will be built.
I know it is a complicated issue but next time you might want to spend 20 seconds on the facts before making dramatic posts.

Nice that county officials don't even know the rules. Hopefully they all resign in shame.

Adair - thats possible. But don't blame me for posting it here. I'm just posting an article, I don't live in Oregon, I don't follow greater Portland URD issues, I'm just posting.
I hope you guys get a team. I also didn't say the Trail Blazers own the land, neither does the article, it just says they had a promise.

If he did, he wouldn't be the shelts.

It is a dramatic post, but not as dramatic as the blazers were being at the meeting.
How self involved does an organization have to be to believe that their ability to make real estate profits trumps the ability for another sports group to have the kind of professional visibility that they have been afforded.
I liked the blazers from the time I've spent in the northwest, unlike my feelings toward the sonics, but this is just selfish. I'm disappointed. But luckily their whining has NO abilty to block this funding stream.
As for shelts, posting bad articles is reprehensible, make sure the validity of an article and the direness of a situation before labeling something another hurdle. Especially when that "hurdle" is more like a kid throwing a fit in a grocery aisle, Timbers and Beavers can just walk on past.

Who owns the land that the new Beavers stadium would be built upon?
By the way, forget about Paul Allen using the Blazers as a bargaining chip and moving the Blazers out of Portland.
The covenant he signed with City of Portland, a 30 year term he signed in 1993, keeps the Blazers there till 2023.
An arena lease can be broken, not a contract with the City.

Who owns the land that the new Beavers stadium would be built upon?
The city owns the land. The stadium will be built where Memorial Coliseum currently resides.

Posting "bad articles" is not something I'm gonna worry about too much frankly. I worry about what other people think of my article selection about as much as I worry about Todd Palin's snowmobile tricks or what the President of Albania had breakfast..........which is to say nothing.
I would say a "bad article" would be one about a missing child,in Florida or a father killed by a drunk driver who plays for the Philadelphia Kixx or a Mexican town over-run with drug gangs.........ie - something bad happening and being described in the article.
I'll let the self-anointed mensa crowd pick apart the journalistic integrity of the writer.

it's not a matter of only some "elite" class judging journalistic integrity
if we all don't demand it, then we'll never get the information we desire
journalism is research, otherwise it's just a tabloid, and should not and can not be referenced legitimately
